Shift Switch Replacement issue...Any ideas? 2015 CX-5 Automatic

I'm quite certain I've seen models that still had an actual hand brake and commander knob which led me to think it was a 2015 since the 2016 introduced the electronic parking brake and such.

That could be from other Mazda models other than CX-5? My 2018 Toyota Yaris iA a Mazda2 in disguise has an actual hand brake and commander knob.

Maybe you're right. Coulda swore some late model 2015's had that too, but could be wrong.

Ah that was it. See proof you can have a commander knob AND a real hand brake.
