Ummm...he made them money by showing *me* his system, and his opinion is highly trusted around here. He's been telling people to buy JL for a long ass time...Anywho...B-Stock doesn't necessarily mean refurb, though...does it? Dent & scratch stuff is B-stock as well, right? I'd take that for 70% off!

1st is does suck...at Toshiba we do offer the same sort of deals for our emplyees and families..and also our channel partners... we DO however let the customer know what type of stock it is; second stock, refurb, new, damage box, etc.

I am guessing they either ASSumed that you knew....or that they didn't need to disclose the type of product it was. ...i would be pissed also...but its hard to for some to sympathize with you...at 75% off.

Lets face it....b-stock....could be as major as a complete "motherboard" overhaul.... or as simple as a switch.


Bottom line with every purchase you make as a customer is... the responsibility is that of the BUYER...and NO ONE else.

I bought B-stock because I am in college and did not have the money for new stuff. The amp still has the same warranty and mine has performed without flaw. I paid alot for mine compared to what you pay. I understand being mad because I like the best to, and I dont like not knowing that kind of stuff. But hard for me to simpithize with ya because I paid twice what you did and I am happy with mine. If yours has a scratch on it I would see if you can get the case replaced. The good thing is that if a scratch is what made it become B-stock then the internals are prob new.

I hope you get everything worked out and dont lose your job over this. If you like audio stuff it is nice to work in a store and get discounts.

I have not been on this post long, but it seems like people liek you on here. I am not trying to start any s*** with ya, and I dont think anyone else is either. So dont be pissed at me or anyone else for saying you should be glad you get stuff so cheap. Just kinda makes me feel bad because I paid alot for my B-stock and I am very happy with it. I talk JL up and show everyone my stuff. To see you bitching about paying half what I did for the same thing kinda sucks.

First off let me state that of anyone on here to condesend to Craig's not the guy. I wouldn't doubt that he's actually moved more product on JL's behalf than the vast majority of anyone else who qualifies for "accomedations" Apart form his vast knowledge of all things car audio, he's not been above holding many'a hands while walking us all through assorted obnoxious troubles. If you kept up in this forum verymuch at all you'd know he pimps JL's stuff for them quite regularly (albeit not blatantly cheezy-like)

I can see wher eone would be quick to discredit him, and cut at him for complaining about somehting after he gets such a sweet deal, and whipping out the "beggars can't be choosers" line on him, however.... Part of the reason for working in such an industry is the perks. I'm sure he could easily get paid alot more elsewhere manufacturing widgets or whatnot, but it's his brand of attention and passion for caraudio that keeps the industry alive.

I'm gonna draw a paralell here, and I may be a bit wrong in this, but are with me... I'm in the bike industry, I manage a shop and still don't make squat. I had to park my old car for a year, and soully bike-commute in order to save my pennies for my P5. But I do what I love, and every one of my customers can feel my passion and connection to cycling. Yes I get deals, and I'm greatful for them, but in all honesty were it not for those deals, I'd likely still be doing civil engineering making a healthy salary.

My point here is that 1sty deserves his deals. Yes JL is entitled to sell him whatever the hell they want, but I think it's kinda shady to pawn off 2nd rate stuff on the ppl who keep your industry alive.

For one, you're not reading me. I am not saying that he does more than anyone onthe boards, because you're right I have no idea who's in here. Thishas nothing to do with boards-only. All I'm saying about 1st is that he's helped ALOT of us in here out. I haven't really seen many ppl's system's saved or assisted by award-winning rides that get into magazines. He's on the level where the consumers are and doing alot consistantly and courteously. And for what? I can assure you he doesn't get paid by Mazda Forums to help everyone out. Again it's all about the passion.

I obviously haven't seen one of these JL contracts, but nonetheless, he was apparantly under the impression that he was getting new stuff, and didn't. One shouldn't have to read the fine print to find that out on such alevel. Perhaps the audio industry is alot more cutthroat than mine, I really don't know, but I'd still expect a bit more "brotherhood"

Your right...and according to Admins' rules, seniority doesn't count for crap on the board. I wasn't trying to bring into question your expertise. I was just responding to whether or not Craig uses JL and the great deals to help sell the stuff, and he does...that's all.

Just relax...I've seen the stuff you've done from what you've posted and it looks good...maybe you have won stuff, maybe you haven't...but I don't care. If you're knowledgable, that's what matters. We just try to keep the community up on info on here...the smarter everyone is, the better off all of us are. It's a Borg thing, seen?

that doesn't mean they are bad, though. their amps have been tested in labs and in cars and in comps, and they always do everything they claim. they are solid amps, regardless of where they are made. i'm sure JL amps aren't hand made, so it comes down to how good the machines are that make them, and whether a worker puts in the right components.

byohndspeed, there is a wealth of knowledge on here. there are established people that have been giving good advice for a long time. maybe you did all that, maybe you didn't. maybe if you did you paid someone else to do the work, maybe you didn't. you want to toot your own horn, show us some work/proof. i'm not saying you don't know your s***, i'm just saying don't talk s*** to those of us who are established on certain forums from all the advice and help we have given, based on our experience.

good s*** you coming to SBN this year? do you know dave cameron? he frequents my forum a lot, and i leave the real SQ stuff to him, since my forte is SPL he's working on his mazdaspeed, and it'll be outfitted with brax amps and a velodyne servo driven sub i'm hoping he makes it to SBN next year. he's from oklahoma, and was or still is a certified iasca judge. after i get off active duty in the army i'm going through the installers institute, and opening a shop with my friend. at that point i'll be getting iasca certified for judging. paul papadeas is a cool guy, and gets out to most of the comps around here, since i'm from daytona beach one question, though, you carry MB quart and lightning audio, why not RF? granted they aren't my favorite brand, but changing their new amps to be 1 ohm stable is a good thing, IMO. and i've heard some great new products are coming out from MBQ, including head units and amps. i just hope the HU's aren't as crappy as the RF ones

Now, as for this contract business... How closely do they monitor this kinda thing? Perhasp you might've got yourself marked now making noise (as you verywell should) but still, Damn I'll try out a new board, and decide I hate it and not feel the least bit of presure not to sell it. Granted it's apples and oranges here, and perhaps it's just a level of industry poliding, but usually they wanna keep bro's bro's and let small things slide fairly easily. Nowthen about that extra buck fifty I found in the sofa just now... REally, though I know it's always good to err on the safe side, but do they really check up on you???

I think I got my Xtant amps for -60% and they were accom. I don't think they were refurbs but I don't know for sure. Yes JL is trying to become high end on the amp market but still at 75% off if they run is it that bad?[/no flame intended]

Its a matter of them doing it without it being expressly spoken. In essencence they are falshly claiming what you will get.

I don't know about "top of the line", I wouldn't think of comparing a JL amp to a Zapco or the like... but getting a refurb when they don't tell you is a rip off.

The contract I signed and sent in DOES NOT! I have a copy of it at home. Infact I have 5

Also it is EVERYONEs right to know what the accomidations are.
If a manufacturere doesn't want the general public to know there actions, THEN THEY SHOULD NOT PRACTICE THOSE ACTIONS.
Manufacturers have used the BS of possibly canceling the programs for years. THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THAT!
Wake has pointed this out 10000 times. IF I didn't have the buying potential I do, then I wouldn't know the product as well as I do and hence could not tell people about it.

How the **** can I build a show system with an unreliable or atleast out of spec amp, or an amp with a 4 inch guoge across the center? YOU CAN'T!
