I'm 6ft/300lbs; I test drove the car twice & I just get a back-ache from the stock (GT) seat. I'd want bucket seats, but they'd need to be an inch or two wider. Has anyone had this problem, what seat did you get, and what did it cost you?

I e-mailed a local recaro dealer but they did not respond. It
s not quite obvious to me from looking at the seats on the recaro web site what seats would be a little wider.

Thanks

No one so far has really put aftermarket seats in this car, not that I have seen atleast. The stock seat is really nice for your average person and hold very well. I'm not sure if there are many buckets out there that can meet your needs. I would say you might be out of luck on this one or you could start losing weight if you like this car a lot.

1. the seat will fit you better
2. you'll have to buy new pants..or your old ones
3. The car will perform a lot better.

Or you could find a seat out of an older 77' oldmobile cutlass and somehow try to make that work out for ya...

I'm not being disrespectful, i'm just keepin it real.

I'm 6'-3" and about 315 lbs - no issue for me. You may want to try and adjust the bolster with the handle mounted halfway up on the backrest - on the drivers door part of the seat. The seats in my old regular three gave me fits until I figured out that lever was there.

im 6'5 220 and dont have any complaints way more comfortable than my old audi a4. ya kinda do sit on the side seat bolsters a bit but its not uncomfortable.

Thanks Stamperman, at least someone with constructive advice. What exactly does the handle you mentioned adjust?

Thanks... S.

It adjusts the height of the seat. So, if you put the crank the handle at the side of the seat all the way down, then the seat will be lower to the ground. And then if you pull the handle below the seat back, the seat will go back. And if you pull the other handle at the corner of the seat you can even recline back more.

Contact someone with a MS6 or a regular 3 to see if they want to trade. Both of them a sporty but not as aggressive.

Oh, THAT handle. Yeah, I tried that, but it does not change the back rest "brackets" cutting into my back rather than bracketing it.

Good idea, but I think I want to keep the stock seat for selling the car. I'd rather pay the price for a replacement and stow away the stock seat this way I can restore the car to its original condition.

i'm 6'0 and 260 and dont have much probs. Like redspeed3tk said i sit a lil on the bolsters too but they're not uncomfortable, plus the seat will break in. I don't recall if we have lumbar support, but that big handle will move the seat up and down with a pumping action, so keep pumping down and it will go down and so on. Other than that it may just take some getting used to, I just change the angle of the back every so often when my back gets tired or sore.
But from all the aftermarket seats i've seen the look to be made for little Asian girls, and most have hard frames so they don't have much play.

weird! i'm bigger than you and i'm way comfortable in this thing! i am unsure of your fitness level, body shape or muscular/core development, etc so what works for me comfort-wise might still not work for someone else for those reasons.

honestly, you might find the seat contour itself a bit to your body after some miles.

I don't what those other guys are smokin' but.....
The lever I am talking about is on the upper half of the seat, or the seat back, just below midway up, on the outside of the seat so it's basically hidden when the door is shut. It adjusts the settings of the bolsters in the seat.

#4 in this picture - assuminig I did this right and there is a picture there.

It came out small, but you can zoom in on it.

Or go here and scroll to the section where the seat is:

wtf u guys are tall haha. i'm 5'6 210!

I know right? The average US height for males is 5'10", I'm just under that at 5'9" but all my friends are taller than I am. My best friend is 6'4" and my other friend is 6'2". I only weigh in at 155 though, sad parts is this is the heaviest I have ever been.

i'm 6'4" and around 245lbs...i'm not what you would call fat, but sure, yeah, call me a fat ass... hehehe then wonder why i pound your narrow ass in the ground like a tent stake... :)

anyway, i find the seats in the speed very comfortable, it was a major selling point for me... as well as the fact that the seats go waaaaaay back and waaaaaaay down...

i also like the lumbar lever as well, so you can firm it up a bit when you want... i guess i'm not that wide, but i can see how smaller cars cramp other folks...

geez i got in a scion tc, and wondered if i was going to be able to get out again...

yea, that was probably the biggest reason that sold me on the speed. i heard good things about the SRT's seats, but when i actually got a chance to sit in them, they just didn't do it for me. these ones felt near perfect when i dropped into them.

then again, i'm about 6'3" and 185 lb, so i'm a good bit thinner than most of the guys posting in this thread and would kinda expect the tight buckets to work better for me than most of you.

on another note, mazda seems to have used tight buckets in their sporty cars for a while... i had a 94 MX6 V6 that had leather seats and those were even tighter than the ones in the MS3

yes. i think it is very subjective.. what might feel right for some, might not feel right to others... just depends what you like...
