Sayonara MS3 :(

My MS3 was my first new vehicle purchase in over 12 years, kind of a reward for reaching 50 alive and unindicted. Well, less than two weeks after I picked it up a friend backed into the RR quarter panel, leaving a dent about the size of a goose egg. The guy is really nice, Regular Army with several kids, so I told him to forget about it. Drove over to Dent Wizard, who says they would have to drill a hole in the RR C pillar to access the dent and even then couldn't do better than an 80% repair. Took it to what is supposed to be the best local body shop and am advised that the tail light, rear bumper, and fixed quarter window would have to be removed and that "No one will ever know." This is the same shop that fixed my wife's 528i when it took a heavy hit to the rear. When I got it back I had to spend $100 and over two hours
hooking up the trunk solenoid wiring and replacing the crap generic trim fasteners with the correct BMW parts. They also repainted the hood on the ti and said they wouldnt leave any tape lines. I stripped the hood insulation and washer nozzles myself and they STILL left tape lines(which I was able to buff out fortunately). Scratches don't bother me; I'm pretty adept at touch up work. Ditto for door dings. That said, having the rear of a two week old car completely disassembled and knowing it won't be reassembled correctly is another thing altogether.
Which is a long and roundabout way of saying that the MS3 is being sold tomorrow. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted... :(

Yeah, the ash tray was full, so I got a new car. Nice to have that kind of disposable income.

Honestly, you were too nice to let the guy go who originally caused the damage. And now because of it you're just gonna give up and sell the MS3? Umm ok....

(scratch)
strangest reason i've ever heard for selling a car

Did you even think about having the dealer do the repair? They might be the best bet in this situation. Selling the car because it will never be the same as the first day you had it is kind of dramatic. If it were me, I would buy another car, but I'd strip the interior of the ms3 and race it!

i have a proposal for you... i will take this problem car off ur hands for ~10k and have the dent fixed myself, you wont have to worry about it anymore.... Sound fair enough?

so I still don't quite get why he's selling it......they messed up his bmw so he's assuming they messed up the mazda? I'm confused........

I'll give you 12,000 for it.

....I figure it couldn't be worth anymore than that with that irreparable dent in it!

I'll give you 20 bucks and a used psp?? anyways, seriously, have the dealer check it!! they can fix it just fine. But selling it because it has a dent?!? (screwy) and +1 on what was posted by evilmonkeymsp and wannabe

I don't get it! Why is he selling his MS3?!

Trade for a mint condition P5? :)

Seriously dude, get the car fixed and keep it! Unless you've got a huge load of disposable income. Get her to a good body shop and she'll be right as rain. Most shops guarantee their work so don't take it back until its just the way you want it.
