Rush in a Car Crash! (MSP Totaled)

Well if you do the swap ill stop by with pizza, (not that great on motor swaps cause i am weak haha, but i can do brakes good :) )

Oh and i have a Engine Hoist U can use :D

damn this really sucks. Im glad your ok. I think its kinda weird that the insurance would total your car, cause there doesn't seem to be that much damage.
In any case I'm local and if you need a hand with whatever your plans are in the future, just let me know and Ill be glad to help out.

I just saw this ... sorry to see that! Our poor msp moderator! NOOOOO! Well I'm glad to see that you are still in good health. Sorry to see this happen to such a nice msp. I hope it all works out. If you need anything just let me know.

My dad's car is already a manual transmission. My worry was with the difference in tranny gearing and strength.

My dad was nice enough to already call around to get a price range on how much swapping out the entire engine and tranny would cost. It'd probably be a few thousand.

Once again .. it's all coming down to numbers. However, I'm also considering just taking my dad's Protege and just .. leaving it alone. Pocketing the money from the accident, putting into a high-yield savings account, and sitting on it till I graduate and THEN buy something nice. The only downside to that, is that every time I get in the car, it's probably going to be heartbreaking -- just getting into a Protege that isn't my MSP, and being reminded about the accident every day.

as much as it would hurt, i would save the money and go after something bigger in the future. yea itll suck at first but in time it won't be so bad, not to mention if u hold the money for a while and it builds, you will be able to buy something much nicer. but follow your heart and do what feels right.

This is anyones nightmare sorry to hear about what happen at least your ok. Thats all that really matters.

Wish i lived closer, could get some people and beer and have that motor swapped in no time!

Believe it or not this kind of a write off would be my dream! Motor and most of your parts are completely fine! Buy the car back and you have all your s*** and tons of money! I regularly think about what I'd do in this situation if it ever happened. If it were me I'd use the motor to make a full drag 323, but next to that swapping into another protege would be great too.

Don't get me wrong it sucks, I actually LOVED your car a lot from a distance lol. But you definetly didn't get shafted at all. be happy :D

:( It sucks to see this. Glad you're ok though! Glad I got to see the car once too...

Was indeed a fine example of an MSP. Happy to hear you are ok. What happened to your winter wheels/tires?

I say try to find a Stock, low mileage MSP and buy it. Hopefully you can find another Titanium :(

GREAT support people!!

You are going to be OK, Cindy!! Lots of friends and certainly moral/physical support for you here.
Glad you are all right.

the one you posted had a FMIC...thats not stock....I would never buy a used MSP if I knew it had mods or was previously modded...
that is what i posted in that link, unfortunately it isnt that low mileage

Glad to see your okay and it sucks to hear your MSP is totaled.

I know people are saying you should rebuild with another MSP. But as you said earlier just save up and get something after college like you suggested. Like maybe a MS3? (shady)

Honestly, i hate to admit it but if i was in the same posistion id have to drive the ES for a little while until i found something to step up into, i have been pining over evos for awhile now and i think that may be in my sites now.

I have a feeling I'm going to wind up driving my dad's ES as-is for awhile. Financially speaking, with college expenses, I just can't justify plunking down thousands on a 'better' car -- when I have a good DD that's being handed to me for free. While my heart is screaming for me to either fix my MSP or buy another stock one and swap everything over or take my Dad's ES and swap everything over .. when you think about it logically, it simply does NOT make sense and isn't the best long-term solution.

However .. unless the salvage value of my MSP is abnormally high, as of this moment, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying it back. There are some little things I can pull off it to put on my Dad's car (the shifter, my sound system, some interior and exterior CF pieces, cause God forbid I drive any car without some CF on it!) .. and that will help to make his Protege feel more like 'home'.

I'm also very sure that selling all the parts I have on it will make up for the salvage value. My exhaust system alone is worth $1000, nevermind the FMIC kit, manifolds, and blah-dee-blah of everything else.

Again, thanks so much for the help and suggestions! I'm still waiting on the 'final' call from insurance, and that will help bring a little more closure.

Cindy,
This is where the forum you help to make special by moderating really shines!
I've been where you are now.... I wish I'd had the kind of support you are seeing here. (Maybe if I were young & female(lol2))

My MSP was offered back to me by the ins. company @ $1300 if that helps...
I hope you stay in a Protege so we keep seeing you here!

BTW, my son says he liked your MSP best... its nice that you took so many great pics to remember it by.

Mostly we're glad to know you are ok...

Doug

You're MSP was one of the sexiest cars on this forum, it will be missed. Good luck with the rest, the numbers will speak for themselves
