I bought a replacement but can't seem to remove the old one from the rear. I expected it to slide out like the ones on the windshield. If I apply any more force, I might break it.![]()
Thank you I am glad I asked!Just a warning: do not just walk up and lift the arm on a 2nd gen CX-5, you will break it.
Don't ask me how I know this.
Appreciate this!! My rear wiper is as vintage as the car. Can't believe I never looked for help on this in the manual.2017 CX-5, right?
It has the same basic wiper arm/blade arrangement as on my 2016.5 CX-5.
In the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Owners Manual @ MazdaUSA, see p. 6-36 for the rear wiper blade instructions:
The rear wiper arm assembly on your vintage car ought to have a plastic cover over the end of the arm where it comes out of the rear window glass. It covers the nut that holds the arm onto the glass. That plastic cover has a "nub" on the inner edge of each "ear" on the cover.
The illustration on p. 6-36 shows how to gently bend the "ears" outward away from the arm and then lift-up the cover (while holding those "ears" outward). Once that cover has been removed, the rear wiper arm ought to move freely, allowing you access to remove the blade off the arm. Swap-in the new blade or blade rubber, put the arm back down, and snap that black plastic cover back onto the arm.
