Replacing radio in 2001 Protege

I am experiencing issues with the display on my radio displaying partially (pressing in on it sometimes resolves it for a while). I would preferably like to replace it with a unit that has an AUX in connection, or MP3 capability. There is a local junkyard nearby with lots of old Proteges and other cars as new as 2008. Is there a particular radio from an old car that would provide these capabilities and fit a Protege without modification? Thanks in advance!

The older Proteges aren"t going to have an Auxillary adapter or MP3 capable functions so your best bet is to just go to Walmart and by your self a good Pioneer radio Cd player for like $80.00 or so that has an MP3 auxiliary connector on it that"s your best bet! They have the installation kit to so it installs right in no modifications required! I hope that helps!

I recommend buying your receiver from Crutchfield.com. Not only do they have exactly what you need, but they also have any adapter harnesses, block-off plates, etc that may be necessary. Of course, they provide full instructions and lifetime phone support. You really can't go wrong with this place.

I just bought my head unit from crutchfield. I highly recommend them. They provided me my wiring harness and my dash kit free and the dash kit they sell for the protege is freaking awesome. Snaps right in and is solid. Looks very clean as well.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was hoping there was another old car that I may find in a junkyard that would have a compatible unit with the features I'm looking for, but guess not.

As for Crutchfield, I'd love to order from them but they appear to only ship to the US and I'm in Canada.
