what does the forester xt run in the quarter? it gives up 40hp and 15lbft of torque to the legacy gt and weights only 75lbs less. i know last year before the redesign of the legacy what you said was true, i'm not so sure it holds true anymore. off to research

C&D ran a 13.8 quarter mile with the forester XT (13.2 for sti). the best i saw for a impreza wrx or an legacy GT was low 14's. overall power doesnt mean s***............its the powerband that matters(and of course the gearing). Its shocking that car is that quick....what a bargain too.

Hahaha, howstuffworks.com is wrong for once! It says it's "impossible" to shift into reverse from 5th, but I'm here to tell you that's bulls***. A guy at our school decided to show off for me and my friends when we were sophmores (he was a senior). So he got goin about 95 and did a flyby on us in his Miata, then shifted to "6th". Back tires locked, engine destroyed every thing that wasn't made of iron in the engine bay AND dented out the fender. And his front air dam dissapeared as the tranny came flying out the front end of the car.

Point of thist story: it's possible to do it, just highly unadvised

Why the hell did he "want" to show that off!? Did he want to get rid of his car or something...

but did he successfully get it into reverse or did it just basically jam the transmission? if he had got it into reverse his back tires would have been spinning backwards really really fast (cause of engine rpm), not just locked up. i vote for basically suddenly stopping the transmission, which would cause problems similiar to what you describe i'd imagine while going 95

Hello All,

I am looking @ replacing my POS5, 4 Trannies later, I have had enough. Fortunatly I may be getting a buy back from Mazda (thanks to arbitration here in Canada).

So these are the cars I am considering.

Impreza RS
Civic Si (4 door)
Lancer Ralliart

Which would you go for?

Any other opinions?

A bit of advice: GET AN AUTOMATIC NEXT TIME!

The lock out is broken from 5th to reverse, even after replacing the tranny, you can still shift from 5th to reverse, and the lockout does nothing.

I have also been driving standard for 13 years... (spank)

I just happened to get a lemon.

Mazda claimed it was abuse, the arbitration found in favour of me, and when they replaced the tranny, not even leaving the dealershit, it was still not working properly, Mazda again claimed abuse.

Scion isn't available in Canada..

Doesn't mean your good at it. IMHO

Well this is the end (when ever someone says this, I think of the Doors).

I was awarded my buy back from the manufacturer by arbitration.

I did enjoy driving the car, but it was a lemon, I just wish everyone the best of luck with their cars. Mazda really tried to take me to the back and **** me, but did not get away with it. I am losing about a 25% of the value of the vehichle to use (50k km on it). There is nothing I can do about that though, as by going through the process it is binding, but faster than courts.

I wish I could have enjoyed this car, but it was too much stress with all this, but the weight is off my back.
