would you guys care if we removed post counts entirely?, it would cut down on some senseless threads, and hopefully curb a little bit of the mass post whoring that occurs.

please vote, and leave us some feedback so we can see what the members want.

*NOTE*if this thread gets out of hand as they all do, it will be closed imediately.

leave my s*** alone derrick lol...remember, post counts are important especially in the for sale section, considering i would never buy a used turbo off of someone with one post. plus they are a good indicator of how long someone has been around (sure there are post ****** with 200 posts just from some stupid thread in the regional sections, but everyone knows who those people are) besides the date. anyways, i have no interest in losing my post counts. you saw how upset people got just when enry removed the posts from when flamewars posts and whatnot counted.

post count is useless. There is no assurance of anyone's trustworthiness based on their post count. If you have concernes about buying from forum members then you should agree on an items selling rpice and then just list a private auction on ebay and only give the buyer the number. There is no GOOD reason to keep post count.

Good point about the for sale section Matthew. I really don't care about my post count, but it's nice to know who's been around a while.
Definately leave the "date registered" under people's avatars.

point taken. but i still like to see them, so naturally im going to vote to keep them.

if there is any way you could keep threadcount in the forsale section...like have a moderator put in in the thread whenever a person puts something up for sale..that would be fine..I dont ee them as useful at all. I mean, its pretty obvious to tell who are the knowledgable people around here besides lookin at their postcount..

i really dont post *****, though i do butt in all the time (though increasingly in the off topic section, as there seems to be less and less to talk about daily). dont ask why my post count is important to me, i really couldnt tell you. but i do like to know who is involved the most in what goes on around here. i know it shouldnt matter at all, but for some reason i tend to think people with higher post counts give a s*** more.

removing them wont curb the spamming, i assure you.

i dont really care about MY post count, but i like seing who has been around. i like seeing 1st MP3 in NH hitting 10,000.

good point, those are always fun! like craig was posting by himself for the first few months lol.

anyways...lets say dexter changes his name or sig or whatever, and he says something like ive heard of at least 3 engines going to s*** with nitrous. i would be more apt to believe him due to the fact that he has 3k+ posts, and therefore is likely to have participated in past conversations about blown engines, than, say, someone with 100 posts.

or we could do like honda-tech and not allow users with less than 25 post, post in the classified sections. That would keep people from coming in and attempting to sell s*** to everybody (coughdealerscough). then if you need to sell something and people are iffy about it, start a vouch thread where people that have delt with you, or know you personally can say if your a good seller and whatnot.

personally I dont care about post counts that much, I say remove them from the user info under the avatar, and keep them in the member profile.

remove them. Leave them in the User CP. Maybe that'll tame the ego's around here (laugh)

Post counts don't really matter to me, but they seem important to some people.

I wouldn't mind killing it. Just go to the NASIOC (WRX) forums, and you will see that it's all by rank, and not post count. It would cut down on a lot of senseless posting.
