Just because someone has 1000's of posts, doesn't make them more believable or honest. I could add 50 posts about Brittany Spears and anothe 50 about Drifting or what to get my GF for Christmans, but that doesn't mean I know how much boost your P5 can handle.

It doesn't take a huge post count to figure out who has been around and who knows what they are talking about. Not to pick on anyone, but 10,000 posts in two years? Is there a reason to post over 13 times a day?

IMO. post counts don't MAKE the user, yet I think they should stay. I think it shows who is active in the forum and presents him or herself to others. Anyone can go back and see that one person is just randomly posting BS, but most people here know other people and it helps to know that they are still active and putting in their 2 cents on the board.

lol mines like 18 something. and yes, there is. i give my opinion on almost anything appearance wise, help with constant questions about headers, help with wheels, meets, etc. i love this forum and thats why i post all the time. my post count is something that i have to show for my time. flamewars, off topic, christmas presents and all that dont count towards your count anyhow.

everyone has a purpose on this board. except maybe flat black.

I have been here since Feb 2003 and I only have 762 post. There are some out there that just plain, *****. I think post counts are important because it lets the newbies know where they can get correct info from. The higher the post the more time you have spent on this board and the more you know about it. When I first came here I looked up to the higher posts people because I see that they have had the most dose for info, and know how.

i'm with matthew on this one.

Me too.

I often look at post counts to see if I should really take somebody's advise. I'm not likely to take advise from someone with 10 posts, would you?

But if you are on here enough, you should know who to ask. and I'm on here everyday. So, I guess it really doesn't matter.

even if you remove them, all you have to do is search, and you can come up with the postcounts.... :D

whatever you do...wont stop me from postwhoring...i vote for them staying

would you guys care if we removed post counts entirely?, it would cut down on some senseless threads, and hopefully curb a little bit of the mass post whoring that occurs.

please vote, and leave us some feedback so we can see what the members want.

*NOTE*if this thread gets out of hand as they all do, it will be closed imediately.

I think it gives people a good idea on how much seniority a person has on the site and how interested also.

My 2 cents

I agree!

I think it helps sometimes to know that a member has been around the board a while, whether by their post count or by the time they joined.

I would probably lean towards keeping the post counts in the "for sale" section, and letting the time joined remain in the user profiles... if something like that can be done. I like the idea of not letting people post in "for sale" also, when they haven't posted more than a certain amount. (i.e. 25 posts)

Post counts as experianced in other forums do not always cut down on the "post whoring". This would only work if the full reason for these ***** sessions is based from the post count; which it is not entirely. Lot of times it is simply people having fun with each other. If a mod or admin feels that a person is posting excessively then they need to deal with them personally. Either in the form of warnings, suspension or perhaps even invoke a 1 post a minute (or some increased time) rule as on some forums.

I vote no, it is not the cause and will not solve the problem that some feel exists here.

And btw this is not cause I have a somewhat high count, I rarely even notice it till people point it out at meets.

It makes no difference to me. I have been on focaljet.com for over 2 years now and they tired w/o and with post counts but it didn't affect the post-whoring. And here I don't think it would make a difference either considering most post-whoring takes place in OT which doesn't even affect your count. Leave them. Get rid of them. Whatever floats yer boat.

well, its a good way for me to tell how much time im actually wasting on this forum lol

keep them

Too true, too true. Heh heh heh......

I dont care either way. Most "whoring" occurs in threads where posts arent even counted (read: "Craig and Brook and others waste time in the Longest Thread"), so I dont think it would make any difference if they were removed. But if it is inconvenient for some reason (say it takes up memory or something), then drop it.

I say let 'em stay, mostly 'cause if it aint broke, dont fix it. Capisce?

Screw post count debates I say we limit what one person can type in their location field!!!

:p :D

LOL. I just noticed that my count has gone down a couple hundred... Maybe I am regressing to n00b as I write this post!!! Arghh!!!! ;) That's some weird stuff...

Yeah, that location field is a biggun. I would hate to see Brook's Street address... ROFL

Give me postcounts or give me death.

Or compile spammer's ranking list on a separate site that we can all go to and eliminate the postcount underneath nicknames.

;)

I don't think post counts matter. If you think they do so you can see how much someone is "trustworthy" or how long they have been around you are wrong. I have been here for a year now and just viewed for months before that and I don't even have 150 posts. I probaly spend about an hour and a half on here every day, just to read advice and other things. It gets annoying when perfectly good threads or questions get ruined by the 3rd post because someone flames for spelling or not searching (probaly 50% of posts here) And I know that I personally wouln't buy from some particular people even if they are closing in on 6000 posts. If you need your post count to see how much you post here, more power to ya. I personally don't chime in very often because I don't generally have new information for somebody which is why this forum is here in the 1st place. I remember older members who were damn good at awnsering questions without flaming, and they are gone now.... Where do you think they could have gone????? We are a community here people, not a sports league with a scoreboard.............................

correct but you know what? maybe with almost 6k posts, i know a little about everything. granted, i may not be able to explain to you something based on something i knew before this board, but i sure can explain A LOT of s*** ive read and taken part in discussions about, like hesistation, and what kind of springs are good for the p5 even though ive only owned one set. taking away post counts is just going to upset people, and its not going to help anything.

i guess my point is....
i get a lot of PMs daily asking me questions from noobs and some more veteran members, because they know by looking at my post count, that ive taken part in enough discussions to know a lot of their answers, or AT LEAST point them in the right direction. if i had 100 posts, i doubt id get the 10+ pms or emails daily that i get.

Yeah, same here....I used to have at least another 100 posts. Maybe since we don't own Proteges anymore they are pissed and keep lowering our post counts....Oh Well.
