If you're gonna go through all the trouble of re-wiring and re-locating the amp, you're better off buying a 4-channel amp and powering the front speakers with the front channels and the subwoofer with the rear channels. You'll get more midbass and less distortion up front in addition to the better bass response from the sub.

The stock amp is not being utilized to it's full potential using the stock sub because it is only 8 ohms. You will double it's output by connecting the 8w3. Then it will be fine. I would buy and install the 8w3 first. Then decide from there what else you want to do.

Sweet.... So For That Amp I Would Have To Run 8awg Wiring Or 4awg?

Also I Would Like To Keep The Amp Close To The Sub So Could I Run That Amp In The Stock Location Or Would It Need More Ventilation?

For either the stocker or the alpine, since I don't know which you are refering too, 8 guage is the wire to use.

If the amp will work there or not I can not say. Its really just a role of the dice. no amp is really ment to be mounted like that so its a gable of longevity more then anything.

I Have One Other Question: Since I'm Already Looking At Upgrading The Amp, Should I Buy A 5-channel Like The Jl Audio 500/5 With A Set Of Jl Audio Front Components And The 8w3-d2?

You don't need rear speakers and you certainly don't need to power them with an external amplifier. Read the rear-speaker discussion located in the CA&E section for more information about this.

the 500/5 would be the only 5 channel I would use for rear speakers since it just barely powers the rears. It just gives you the advantage of a cleaner and more flexible signal over what a head unit puts out. Rather expensive though, not to mention its a real pain to mount that beast.

The Price Isn't An Issue.... I've Got Alot Of Friends Who Work Int He Audio Industry That I Can Get Good Deals From. I Just Want To Make Sure I Have A Good Sounding System That Isn't All Bass Or All Highs.

Chuyler1: The Reason I Mentioned That Amp Was Because The Jl Audio 500/5 Only Puts Out 25 Watts Rms To The Rear Channels And 100 Watts To The Fronts, Which Allows For A Cleaner Front Sound Stage With Less Rear Power To Distort The Front Stage.

1sty: Would You Recommend Mounting That Amp On The Rear Seat Back Or Would That Not Allow Enough Flow?

The rear seats is fine for the 500/5. But fir you are going for that level of equipment, get a better sub ( atleast a 10w6AE) and do a custom install with some nice front components. That amp just doesn't belong with the factory MSP drivers.

All In All Probably No More Than $3000 But, I Want A Double Din H/u. Either The Eclipse Navi (not Hdd) Or The Kenwood Ddx-7017.

I Don't Like To Have To Keep Turning The Music Up To Fight Outside Noise, So I Want Some Thing That Sounds Clean And Not Over Bassed. I Enjoy A Great Front Sound Stage And But I Like Some Rear Audible Because I Like To Listen To Dvd-a Surround Music.

I would DEFINITLY swap out those speakers for someting better. I am loving the Polk SR6500 these days and you can team them up with a lesser polk Momo in the rear. Then you can use the 500/5 and a 10W3v3 or even a 10w6v2. The polk sub that is coming soon should be bad ass too. Might be worth the wait.

Since no one has it yet, I would like to see how they will get it in 2 weeks. I think they ment 2 months.

If they can actualy get you one in 2 weeks, then its DEFINITLY worth the wait.

It's gonna take some time to install the rest of the equipment so waiting 2 weeks is nothing.

$3000 is plenty of cash to redo the system from the ground up. Start with the head unit, then figure out if you actually want to power rear speakers. It boils down to money. You can get more component speaker for your money if you aren't worrying about powering and purchasing rear speakers.

I was showing my system to some guys at a car show on Saturday. I have 2 8"s in the hatch and a pair of 6.5" components in the front. The two sitting in the back seat were in agreement that they did not need rear speakers to hear everything OK.

I Was Told Two Weeks, But You Know How Time Quotes Go. Then I'll Hold Out For That Unit.

I Just Think There Will Be A Huge Void In The Car If There Is No Rear Speakers, But Then Again I've Never Been In A Vehicle Without Rear Speakers.

Have you been in a car with $800 components receiving 100 watts RMS? Trust me, you'll enjoy it.

The only reason for rear speakers would be for surround sound...and they should be mounted somewhere better than the rear doors.
