Red-stripe In-Dash GPS Installed!

OK i Have ran in to a couple of issues, like Tom tom not running b/c complaining about not enough memory or Tom tom freezing up , I tried going into control panel and disabling all power options but nada! also Route 66 works perfectly !! any ideas?

To a few mins today and hooked up the rear camera.

Works like a charm. I grounded the black wire from the camera to a factory ground, tapped the 12v signal from the reverse lights to the blue wire labeled "back". Plugged the camera rca cable into the black plug labeled "rear view camera".

I have a hatch and tried a few locations for the camera, thought about putting it inside near the 3rd brake light, then tried it inside just about the wiper motor. Ended up mounting to the rear bumper just above the plate dead center. It really gave me the best perspective when backing into the garage.

Color is good, image is clearer then I expected too.

Now only if I can get TomTom working.....I think I forgot to patch the ttsystems file.......arg

K Question!

Did you run any cable besides the blue one? like the red one (ACC) it seems GPS is not keeping the settings after you turning off the car, also I get not illumination in the buttons !

Nope just the blue one.

I think you have to turn on the button illumination in the settings. Mine come one as soon as I flip the headlights on. The key light setting will make the buttons brighter or darker as well.

Not sure if connecting the ACC red wire will keep the gps from resetting or not.
I am always afraid of frying things hehe, if you go for it let me know.

I got the light thing working, I guess i was missing the settings in the setup menu! Now just wondering what the ACC cable would do !

here are some pics of the iPhone REV app output via AUX
couple apps let you output anything and REV itself has a few different views as well for the gauges

NICE, I went ahead and did the AUX thing yesterday. mounted a nice little plate in the deep section of the arm rest. Now just need to swing by radio shack or best buy and get a ipod to av cable.

Ok after a long weekend of reading and downloading I finally got a version of iGo8 working on this thing. I could never get tomtom to work, Im on a mac and couldn't run those cmd files and keygens. Tried TT on my buddies PC but we still had no luck. So I went the iGo8 route and after a few tries and a bunch of different downloads/ sys file hacking it works pretty good. It did crash once, but i was trying all the menu items real quick trying to get it to crash.

I will get some pics up tomorrow.

Found a little media player that works with CE. I haven't messed around with it too much yet, but looks like you can create play lists with it. One of the major downsides is that you have to have the files you want to play on the SD card since CE doesn't recognize the USB drive for some reason. It would be really nice if someone could figure that one out.

Anyway, attached is the run TXT, CAB file and the installed directory. Not sure if you can just run the program from the directory or if you have to install it at least once first. To install it from the cab you may have to go to your control panel/system tab and increase your memory to install it to the program files directory. After you restart the directory is gone, so you need to keep a copy on your SD card.

Not really cool or anything, but just another thing to play with. (wiggle)

Awww man. I got so excited and was all ready to buy this.
But I missed the "does not work with USB" part of your post.

My plan was to hook up a hard drive and use TCPMP to play all my FLAC files/movies etc.

What exactly is the problem? Windows CE does not detect the usb, or TCPMP?

You can still play movies off the USB device, but the Windows CE part does not recognize the USB connection (or at least I haven't figured out how). You go to the DVD player then choose USB Interface. You can then browse your USB device and watch movies, view images or listen to MP3s. I've been using this to watch all kinds of movies and tv shows and it works great.

The stuff I've been playing with is just for the CE part, which is what the navigation runs off of. It seems like there are a few separate devices which are tied together to get the whole HU to function as a single unit. The DVD player plays CD/DVDs and reads the USB devices. The MP3 player portion runs off of CE and only displays MP3s on the SD memory card. The navigation of course runs off CE as does the touch screen interface.

I don't think we were ever supposed to get to the CE interface, however I believe it opens up a lot of extra potential for this unit if we can figure a few things out.

Edit: I also never mentioned you can replace the MP3 player with TCPMP. Simply rename the TCPMP with the MP3 player exe name, so then when you press the MP3 button on the main screen it will run TCPMP media player instead of the silly MP3 interface! I don't have that information with me since I'm at work, but I can post it later.

Thanks for the info. Keep us posted if you figure out how to get TCPMP to work with the usb port.
That would be the deal maker for me.

You don't need TCPMP to play MP3s, videos or images from the USB. It works quite well with the current interface, I've just been trying to tinker with stuff.

The defualt player doesn't support FLAC though, and TCPMP does.
I'd imagine the gui is alot better in TCPMP too.

Hey guys,
I read through all the posts in this thread. I double-read (is that a word?)the part about how the IPod stuff functions. About how it takes FOREVER to scroll through your albums and artists. This is a pretty big negative to me.

I also read about how people are working on replacing the MP3 player with TCPMP. Is that a solution for someone who really wants a good Ipod interface?

By good interface I mean I want to easily go to any artist (I have several hundred) and easily play one of their/his/hers albums. If this is not easily done, it would be a deal breaker for me.

If I get a usb drive (i.e. not an ipod) could I browse that way (all my files are organized by artist, then by album, just the way I like it). I too have many FLAC albums and listening to them would be great. Media Monkey will convert them to MP3 for me when I sync my IPOD but it would be nice to keep them in FLAC and listen to them that way.

Well, I just ordered one. Hopefully I'll figure out how to get TCPMP to play flac files from a usb harddrive.

EDIT July 7: Still haven't had time to install mine =/

Specs

Did the unit come with any specification on it? If it did can someone post a pic or scan of them?

Can any one post pics of the gray one installed?

How many rca outputs?
How many video outputs?
THD of outputs?
Signal to noise ratio of the outputs?
County of manufacture?
Manufactures name?
How many volts are the RCA outputs?
How is the video quality?
Is there a power antenna/remote wire?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide any of these answers. BTW they look great, I just want to know that the internals are worth $810....
