rear gate interior light

I am just wondering if anyone has had problems with the interior light in the rear of the car. There is no pattern to the fact that mine works sometimes and doesn't at others. I have had Mazda look at this twice and they said it was fixed for sure this last time. Two days afterwards it was going out again. It worked for a week and now it is off again. Is there something I am missing?

Did you look at the obvious? Check the wiring connections at the base of the bulb, then the switch assembly, if nothing then you might try just replacing the bulb. I have seen filaments inside of bulbs have a loose connection so when you move the bulb one way it works and another way and it doesn't. I haven't had a problem with any of mine nor have I heard about any one else having a problem. Just stick with it and I'm sure you'll get it. Good luck

Don't hold me too this suggestion, however is that one tied into the rear passenger doors one as well? If so the switch/light above the rear seats can be set 2 ways. One for on when rear doors are open and off so when rear doors open they DO NOT COME ON.

Just a thought, I know the rear doors can be set that way, just do not know if they hold the same for 5th (Hatch).
