Really quick questions...

Good afternoon all,

Created an account here to ask two very quick (and probably silly) questions. I'm not really a car guy, so I'm looking for a little advice.

I have to change all 3 wipers on my 2013 3 GTX sport. I know that I can get pretty much any front wipers, but was told by the dealer that ONLY Mazda original rear wipers would fit the car. I've found a back wiper at Canadian Tire for almost 10$ less than the dealer. I know how to change it already (thanks Youtube!), but wanted to know if he was full of cow manure, and my picking up one from CT would be just fine...

I would sometimes replace my wiper blades in the auto parts store parking lot. That way, if there is any problem, I take them in and swap them, right there. If you buy the rear from CT, you might consider doing the same. Some wiper kits, especially those with silicone blades will cost considerably more than say, ANCO blades but if you live in an area where it rains every week, there probably isn't much of a lifespan difference.

Am I right in assuming that the rear blade from CT will do just as well as the pricier one from the dealership?

Yes, dealerships typically charge more because their overhead is so much more than say, a local auto parts store. Some internet-accessible dealerships actually offer OEM parts at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, that's not the norm.

Thanks a ton for the info, concept. All 3 are changed, for less than what the dealer was proposing. And the rear wiper was a cinch, to boot!
