Not Brett's fault... a bearing leftover from the original motor seized up...

Yup, spun a rotor bearing this time (original motor spun an eccentric shaft bearing). I think they re-used the rotor bearings to keep the engine loose - rotaries don't typically munch bearings. I know I've never seen a Spec RX_7 munch bearings like that, and we often reused bearings for the race motors.

Bret did the work and has it at the shop now. Dan is going with new bearings and adding a larger oil cooler this time around. He also added a Holley carb.

With any luck, this motor will be >175rwhp. And with even more luck, he'll let me drive it at VIR again (I promise not to loop in in the rain this time).

wtf ? gahaha...man you're so random you crack monkey. what's the story with you and Lt. Dan anyway (obviously friends, but whatever)

Good friends. Roommates for three years. I can take credit for getting him into RX-7s (I'm surprised he's still talking to me, even more surprised his wife still talks to me).

I'm looking into a P5 to replace my GMC Sierra. Sold the racecar, so don't need a oversized gas-guzzler anymore. P5 would be daily-driver, with occasional track and autocross use. Eventually will buy a Miata to run E-Stock (fingers crossed that they reclass the 94-97 R to ES) and track days.

I see, well, hopefully the beast will rise again stronger. Any idea when it'll be done? Hopefully I can meet up with you at another autocross. (I was the guy with the blue msp at the nasa rain autox at vmp). I've got some goodies now hehe. STX for me now.
