triplexkustomz, i was using the specs from a site that sells RE, since RE's site is still being worked on. last time i checked you gain about 6 dB's by doubling the amount of air you move, in general. granted, xmax is not the best measurement for how much air a sub can displace, look at DD subs. dumax rated at very low, but yet they are a top SPL sub. but since RE uses a lot of the same technology as adire audio, and RE brags about the XXX 10 having the highest xmax in the world, then i assume their drivers will have an accurate xmax rating and give a good judge of the capabilities of the sub, espcially at the resonant freq of the car, with is about 46 hz, which as you should know is rather low for SPL comps. you don't see world records being made with tuning nearly that low, so how's it going to work in a daily driver for achieving over 150 dB with a low end RE sub and only 1200 watts? i know 150 dB is attainable, but unlikely at that freq, with that sub, and with only 1200 watts. i hit a high of 151.2 dB with a MOFO 15 and 1200 watts. i know how important the enclosure is. i took a $200 sub and a $300 amp and broke 150 with a box i built and tuned to 40 hz

but that was a TL box designed to make the front and rear sound waves peak at the mic. did you tell the tech that it was in a stock car, low power, low freq, etc? cause 150 dB is easy in a modified application

what's the world record for a single 15, around 173 on the old meter? and the guy that's sponsored, what's his name? what competitions? what class? all that is important, especially since if he's sponsored, it's not in the stock classes

i've seen it time and time again at comps, stock classes barely hit over 150. being more specific helps when telling about competitors. what freq, what class, walled or not, etc. my accomplishments are beating guys with $3000+ systems with a few hundred dollar systems

FL state finals i beat a guy with one DD 9515 and 2 us 1000 watt amps with a $500 system. the last comp i was at was an idbl/dB drag event and i scored a 147.2 dB with a single brahma 10, beating out guys in the dB drag event with pairs of 12's, and unfortunately there was no one else qualified for stock 1 in idbl, which is why i did both comps. and i beat guys using a box designed for SQ as a daily driver

any decent installer will tell you it's all about the install and setup, not the equipment. and it still pisses off the shops around town that i can out do their many thousand dollar systems with a several hundred dollar system. i'm not sponsored. i don't want to be. i do this as a hobby. and i try to get loud AND sound good while doing it

i drive my car everyday, so i have to. but when i do build an extreme vehicle, i'll get back to you

but till then, when you can satisfy the requirements for stock 1 class, and use only one 10, let me know what you hit

cause right now you are comparing apples and oranges.
i never told you that you couldn't do anything. i said it would be very difficult. do yourself a favor and reread what i said

i am only speaking from my experience, which is all from systems that sound good, and are in stock 1 or 2 classes. i'm still researching about the physics involved with higher level comp classes, which you obviosly know a lot about. and when the time comes, i would ask you for help based on your experience and knowledge. and as you say, this is a discussion, not an arguement
peace
BTW, any chance of getting a deal on a XXX 15? i'm trying to decide between a XXX, brahma, DD, treo, etc. price is a big factor for me
