Racist bar signs?

Meh - the bar owner has a very valid point about free speach...i don't see what the big deal is.

LOL Agreed

If your offended by the sign i think its cause your feeling a little guilty :D

Yup. I dont see anything wrong with that.

Nothing racist. Nothing religious.

urgh! Can't view it at work. gotta wait til I get home..

just ignorant.

How is it ignorant? I mean.. the "We only speak english here" is stupid..

the welfare one is right spot on.

You should see how badly people in this state take advantage of it. I work at a grocery store so I see it at its worst. People coming in.. buying $300 worth of groceries, wearing so much gold jewelry.. bracelets, rings, etc.

The problem with statements like this, is that it generalizes an entire group of people. Yes, there are people who abuse the system, and take advantage of it to the fullest extent (and not just black people wearing gold jewelry, bracelets, rings, etc. but people of all nationalities)

But you are forgetting that there are honest people who are on welfare for legitimate reasons. Its not fair to judge or categorize them into a group of people they shouldn't associated with.

You can say all black people are porch monkeys. And maybe in your area, they all are. But that doesn't mean that every African American person outside of your region falls into that category.

+1 to what you said but porch monkey is a racial slur. No african american or any person should be called that. PERIOD!

I agree. I was just using that as an example. (and I am black if that makes you feel any better)

Lets be realistic here. This is 2007. When somebody says "wearing so much gold jewelry.. bracelets, rings, etc." its almost safe to assume that he is refering to a certain race of people.

They will only be concieved as 'racist' if you hold that own stereotype in your mind as far as im concerned.

Seriously, from what I saw he said nothing about race. It's up to the reader to make the connection.

Crazy white guys. Don't they know that they can't go around making sense like that. How long before Sharpton and Jackson show up. Unfortunatly when welfare comes into the conversation most minority groups will be offended. And telling them to try to improvise and/or improve the quality of there life will get you called a racist no matter how brutally true it may be.

stereotype much?
