Question On Red MS3?

Hey everyone, am new to the forum and have been doing my research on the MS3 for over a year now. Not because I don't like it or didn't want it, but because I was shopping around for different cars, but came to realise that the MS3 is the best deal for the buck as you all know.

Anyways, my story started last week, which was November 24. I went to the mazda dealer and test drove the MS3, fell in love with it as I was driving it, but they didn't have the color I really wanted, which is the red color. I test drove the Blue metallic color, that I really wasn't feeling it. I loved the performance and everthing but not the color. So I asked the sales man do you have it in red, the sales man said no we just sold the last one three days ago. And we are suppose to get one soon. So I said ok cool I will wait for the red one to come in and than sign the papers and take it home. The sales man said alright I will call you as soon as it comes in.

So my question is, has anyone else waited for their color to come in and how long did it take for it to come in? And if you had to wait for the red also? Cause appereantly it is a rair color that is not sold that often so when it does it takes a while for another one to come in to the dealership. If anyone can answer this for me, I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. (dunno)

i waited 2 and 1/2 weeks for my silver they had black on the floor and it didnt float my boat but the silver one did so i have to wait b/c there was only blacks around

I dont think it's a rare color. If i remember correctly, the first year's model was evenly divided between red, silver, blue and black.

It's a matter of delivery, not waiting for a specific color. The dealer orders them and it takes a few weeks to arrive, if it's not already on it's way.

First half of the 07 year was only red. Canada got 500 of the vehicles, 250 in red over the first few months, then 100 black, 100 silver, and 50 in blue. I think it was about the same for the US market. I'm not sure if they are doing the same colour ratios for the 08's, but I know halfway through the year they are adding white.

I got the first one to hit the dealer here. It's red. FWIW, I've seen several silver, a ton of black and a few blues. I'm the only red I've seen and I was the only red my dealer ever sold.

Whatever you do, don't put any money down unless you're sure you're getting a stellar deal! I almost put money down on a silver GT that I wouldn't get for a month (also, I'd get it for MSRP), primarily because they gave the distinct impression that specific car was the only one coming in the foreseeable future. They acted as if the next chance was going to be in 2 months for a silver Sport.

I (luckily) ended up walking away and found a used one that's been a peach so far.

After a month passed I drove through the dealership again and they had 7 Speed 3s: 4 silver and 3 black. I bet they would have taken almost anything over MSRP at that point.

Have you used the car locater on Mazda USA's site? If you live in a large metro area, you should be able to find what you want.

when i went for mine, I wanted either blue or black. No black's were anywhere near. quite a few silvers and reds though. The dealer we went to charged msrp, whereas everybody else was about 1500 over. It was a cosmic blue, and I liked it so I got it.

I waited for about 1 month after the date I was told that the car would arrive (which was already about 1 month out). So, about 2 months, and the car still wasn't in. They couldn't tell me when it would arrive or if it had even shipped. At that point, I told them that my current car had a head gasket problem, and that if they didn't have my car in by the time that my current ride died, then I was taking my money somewhere else (which was the truth). That got them to move their ass. They couldn't find a red one, but they did find one in black. They drove it back for me the same day they told me about it and I said I would take it.

Give them an incentive, something that is out of your control (and if it happens to be true, then even better) as an impetus to get them in motion if they are moving too slow for you. You might surprise yourself with the results.

Ironic enough, I wanted silver but my dealer didn't have so I settled for red. It had all the other options I wanted (GT without nav). I figured it was not a common car, and there were only two in the lot (the other one a blue non-GT), so I took it.

Cosmic Blue was ONLY available on the speed3. No other #'s had the CB paint. That and it's only for the 07 and the 1st 1/2 of 08.

WOOT!!! Limited color!

WOOT!! LIMITED PRODUCTION CAR!!! lol

Red is sexy though. But I still love my BlacMica Speed3! BYARR!!!

I am sorry bro but I just can't stand the cosmic blue. Watch now with my luck I will go in to try to buy a white one and they will only have cosmic blue left!(ugh)

Actually the color limited to the 08.5 year is the true red....go figure.

I actually wanted a cosmic blue, because all they had was 3 red speeds. They called me in and I drove up there to find that the only cosmic blue that they had just gotten was just sold. I settled for a red which i now find to be the most shown color. Almost every japanese publication shows the red, even the website has a red 3.

The dealership here in Jax sold more red cars than any other color, silver 2nd, black 3rd and the only sold 2 CB's...and I'll be damned if I don't see that SOB all over town...(sad2)

thanks guys for the info, and yes I agree it is not a rare color but we all have to admit the red looks sexy!!!!! the comic blue was nice but wasnt really feeling it, I wanted to stand out, plus here in the L.A area I have only seen one maybe two red MS3's. So i wanted to make sure it does stand out. Well i guess i cant complaint, the car will arrive in two days and am getting it for MSRP. Its the sport, didnt really think I need the rest of the small features that the GT has. But looking forward to driving it.

What should be the first mode to do in your opinion?

That's cool but I wouldn't say that the GT just has a bunch of small stuff to offer.. Leather seats / rain sensing wipers / HID xenon headlamps / bose w/ 6 disc in dash cd changer/LED taillights oh and almost forgot the trip computer that displays MPG / Miles to empty/AVG MPG/Avg speed/ etc..I'm probably forgetten something but as you can see..For that 1,700 more you get a lot of nice stuff. However, either way sport or GT it's a bargin. As far as MODS I would suggest an upgraded rear motor mount first, then add on from there w / intake, etc..
