Question about HD lip

Times are tough. I went to park next to a curbed island and put a nice 15" scrape on the bottom right side of the nose. So not being able to get it painted right now, I put the ghetto fabulous HD lip on it to hide it. It looks good, but for some reason the right side angles slighly up higher than the left. Does it need time to settle? I'm sure it's even across the bottom.

Talking about the home depot lip? Well how even it is, is entirely dependent on how it was installed.. Not sure if you used screws or double sided tape, but it can readjusted easily if you used tape, just peal it off and reapply the tape and follow a certain line on the bumper. I followed directly infront of the bumper protector under the bumper.

Also, will the days heat (going to be 88 here today) make the tape bond better with the car? I have already pulled the lip off a couple times trying to get it perfect, but replaced the tape where I pulled it off.

Well take some pictures of how you put it on. But it won't settle so basically where you stuck it on is how its going to stay.

Crap,...I went outside and eye balled it and it looked like hell. All wavy. So I ripped all off.
Anyone in the greater West Palm area help me get it looking right?

Put the tape on the lip before putting it on your car, don't peel the side of the tape that is going to attach to the car yet. Peel about 4 inches or so to start, stick it on the start point. Line up the lip about 12" away from the start point, (still not peeled yet) and hold the lip there, then pull the tape backing off while still holding it against the car. This way it will have less waves in it and will be easier to apply.

Let me know if that isn't really clear.

agreed... I've been looking around but I'd like to see more pictures of MS3s with this mod.

all the pics i have seen of the HD lip on the MS3 didnt look nearly as good as it does on the MS6...it looks like something is missing and i think i know what it is.

so what im going to do is, do the HD lip, but not only on the front bumper. im going to put it on the side skirts as well and see if that makes it look complete on the MS3

Got it done, am fairly happy with it, I put a little extra tape ath the ends to help them stay put.

Also I fouond out that if you want a pretty strong bond using just tape (I used 3M Auto tape from car parts store) you should take a hair dryer to it once the lip is up and in place. Heat it up for maybe 5 minutes. Makes a decent bond.

dude that lookes awesome! One of he smoothest hd lips I've seen, they always end up rippled from what I see, yours looks great good job!

Thanks! I used that 3M Auto tape, which is only 7/8", so you cant see the tape when looking at it. And roasting it with a hair dryer really gets it to stick down hard. And it covered all the scratches, so Im super happy with it.

im doing it now! lol on my way to the depot! haha

btw looks good.. i have scratches that need to be covered as well

good luck! I'm sure it will come out great. I ended up putting 5 screws in, but only in the center section that's 90* to the floor. Not on the sides of the nose.

I might change mine out for the auto tape. The 3m double sided indoor/outdoor is gray in color and a little bit visible. I do not want to put screws into the bumper though..

I put the screws in at the very bottom. Just in case. You wouldn't be able to see the holes if I took them out. But I used both tapes, and the 3m stuff is stronger.
