Question about 4 Point Seat Belt.

misbehave

Do you have to have bucket seats to be able to install those 4 Point Seat Belts?
Or I can just install them even I only have the stock seats?

And where do they mount on to? The front seat itself or to the back?
I want to see if I can install a set like this: click

And the ones that go in the back make sure its at least a 45 degree angle or if you get in an accident your spine will be crushed I think. And also if its on the stock seat make sure you cross the straps going to the back so they wont slide off your shoulders.

Sparco makes special bolts to keep the stock seatbelts and put a 4-pt harness in for racing. And yes, you need to keep the harness angle close to horizontal or your spin will be crushed. And FYI, your stock seats are bucket seats.

hmm i got 3 point corbeau in my car with no problems.

if u remove the rear seats, u will see 4 bolts, just remove those 4 big bolts (holds the buckles and the belts) and install the 4 bolts provided by which ever company u order from and clip them on to the bolts. not too hard to do :) kinda of puzzled me at first though ahha i didnt know where to put them o.O

good luck!
peace

it's not really suggested to use them on seats that don't have harness slots but i've known/seen people doing it anyway. the reason for the slots is in the event of an accident they keep the harness in place without them they could slide off the seat since there's nothing to keep them in place and render them useless.

you can connect the back shoulder mounting points to the rear seat belt mounting bolts underneath the rear seat. just make sure to keep the seat belt as straight possible and also like the other people have said, the angle of the shoulder belt going to the back should be no less then 45 degrees and no more 180 degrees or you risk breaking your shoulders, anyother serious injury or even worse. if it's only for show my suggestion is to still keep the stock seat belts for daily use.

My friend just bought a Takata harness and in the instructions it says its alright for seats without harness slots if you put them between the two pegs of the headrest.

If you're going to do it; do it right. Four Point harnesses are extrordinarily dangerous in a crash. Buy racing seats and do a true 5 point harness system, so that when you get in a wreck, you don't submarine under your belts and snap your neck.

Thanks for all the advice, guys!
Well, this is just an idea for me cause my wife may not like the fact at all that the 4 point belts will have to occupy our back seat space.

Just trying to keep a fellow Mazda driver alive! Good luck convincing the wife, and please, please just do a 5-point harness.

Actually I too, perfer 5-point harness. But I don't think it will work in my car, especially when my wife want to wear a dress.

if anything 5/4/3 point harnesses would be good for you... but passengers and even your wife will not enjoy putting them on, its like you are going to fly a plane. i didnt care putting them on everyday and what not, but whoever i drove got irritated quickly, so i removed them haha... all depends on if u want to explane everytime to someone new riding your car how to put a seat belt on :P just my 2 cents
