prototype turbo pics!!!!!

im definitly interested in this kit! Its only a matter of time b4 i contact you on purchasing this kit. I am having problems with my tranny. that must be addressed and fixed properly before i go turbo. i say realisticlly probally around june i will be placing an order for the kit. probally stage 2 if it is available at that time. although im sure 5psi would be a nice start. also What color will these be getting powdercoated???? Lookin good, cant wait to see the dyno results! Also do you know of anywhere to get a dual gauge pod beside modify one for a civic? has anyone made one for Protege yet, i remeber an old post but have heard nothing of it latley.

The manifolds will be coated like the pic with the wastegate.
The plumbing will be powdercoated metalic silver and clearcoated.
Sorry I have no idea about the gauge pods:confused:

Upgrades on the tranny and clutch are not necessary(thumb)
Once you up the boost to 8psi one is needed though

haha Spoolin I didn't think I wanted to get a turbo anymore because noone offered a professional looking kit, or had staged a kit. I was about to buy a JDM engine and I guess I'm buying your kit pretty soon lol, after my 18" rims get in I'll be hitting you up - unfortunately I live in Texas and I don't think I want to go to Florida to get installed - you guys willing to offer over phone help within reason - otherwise I could always just post.

Kit looks very efficient and clean, can't wait to see dyno - thanks to you we are going to be having a lot of little Proterbo5's hissing about - mine included (btw, glad you offer the shorty, it brought your price down a lot and makes your kit a lot more appealing)

Wow, good job spoolinmp3!

Your turbo kit looks very promising and after the prototype stage, it will look even cleaner. a few shops in the Toronto area are doing prototypes for turbos as well. I will post a pic when I get one to see how it compares to yours. I'd like to see both final results and hopefully get some testimonials to do a simple comparison.

Good luck with the rest of the staging!

If you cannot install there are many reputable shops located in texas. And we offer customer support via telephone and email.;)

Hey Terry looking good man. One thing after looking at the pics you sent me though. Since you are making it a staged kit I wouldn't use a one piece charge tubing for the non-intercooled kit. Just use a coupling so that when the intercooler is added you only have to change a smaller piece of hose and also will make the install less of a headache I woudl think and give the charge pipe a little flex so that it wasn't under hard stress all the time. I had problems with that on my kit when it was in the proto stage which it always was though. Just a suggestion though.

We initially tried this but we were having problems with the the center coupling leaking boost. I will keep this in mind though but so far everything has been perferct with the current setup.:D

looks like i found my turbo kit for my mp3. i'll wait for stage 2 to come out first before i buy the kit. oh by the way spooolin your kit looks and sounds great.

hey spoolinmp3 nice kit u have there I just have one "?",would u be selling the (T3 turbo ,shortly Tubular manifold ,Charge pipes , Stainless braided oil lines and fittings and the downpipe) sepertly and if so how much for the new"shorty tubular manifold t3 turbo , Turbonetics external wastegate , Vortech fuel managment unit, charge pipes , stainless braided oil line and the downpipe .
thanxs
if u like pm me with the info
thanxs again:)

Spoolin,
I'm definitely liking the kit. A question I have is have you been able to fix the fuel delivery problems associated with our finnicky ECU (ie the problems that BEGI have been seeing)?

Chris

We are currently using an FMU at 4psi of boost and running acceptable a/f ratios on the wideband o2. We will dyno later next week.

The kit looks solid overall, and is what a lot of people are looking for (simple, effective, but not all out). The only thing I don't totally dig is the price. It's not bad, but for a few hundred more, they could have got a BEGI kit, which includes in intercooler. I don't know how much play you have in the price, but if I were you I might consider knocking maybe $100-$200 off the price. Maybe give the option of not having things powder coated for $ reasons? Just a sugg.

Also, call me dumb, but I don't see the intake pipe with the MAF.
One more thing...I didn't catch how you planned on dealing w/ fuel. FMU? Extra Injectors?

Anway, it's good to see the kit...I think it will fare well. Unfortunately for me, I'm waiting for something more high end. Good luck!

Also, will it be possible to make the pipe that goes into the TB a single, mandrel bent pipe? Or would it not be worth it?

I kind of agree here. I could see $2400 or $2450 or something, BUT we've also got to remember that the BEGI kit is a prototype, and not the fully tuned and researched FM kit. Yes, the BEGI was $3000, but as we've seen, its not exactly perfect. The FM kit will probably be around $3500 when it is finally debugged. Which is definitely more than a few hundred. It seems like going Stage1 and then Stage2 is pretty cost effective for people who can't afford everything right away ($2595 vs and extra 500-600).

I definitely think you'd make up the cost if you dropped it $100-$200 bucks though spoolin. For some reason $2400 just sounds so much more attractive than $2595 even though its not THAT MUCH less. The extra orders you'd get would most likely make up for that. Just my thoughts.

The price of the kit as follows

Stage 1 bolt n go kit ($2595.00 usd)

Stage 1.5 upgrade ($2795.00 usd)

Stage 2 Intercooler upgrade (TBA)

The kit is 2600. A good intercoller is about 800 bucks. so 2600 + 800 = 3400 bucks. so i donno. I know Spoolins position. He makes this stuff himself so it's going to cost more them FM b/c then can mass produce this kit. But still 2600 is a little much. for 2300-2400 i would consider stage 1.

but it look really good spoolin!!

I think some of you guys need to remember that Spoolin would like to profit from this......We don't what materials he's using nor do we know how much he's actually paying to have things fabricated to his need. We should be thankful and try no to gripe about prices too much. $2300-$2400 is just a bit on the cheap side.
