2002 Mazda Protege5
Was hoping someone could help me out with a part number or just the correct name to figure out how to get this piece. Broke this on the car earlier this morning and have been trying to find it for the past hour with no luck. Hoping I can find just this piece.

I'm looking for the drivers side rear (2002 Protege5). All help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

(Not my car. Googled it to find a clear picture and ironically they are from Maryland also.)

if you know how to replace it, i have a donor car you're welcome to grab it from. i can't remember the condition however. feel free to text me. sending number now, i'm in owings mills.

I'm sure I could figure it out. I work in Owings mills and live in Essex. That would be great!

In case your lead with boostd falls through, this may be the part you're looking for (#7):

There's one on ebay for $41 shipped.

I'm not 100% sure that's the part as sometimes the Mazda diagrams are unclear.

Thanks Hank, That LOOKS to be the part I need. Now to try and figure out how to get the old one off and the new one on without taking the whole door apart..

Hank, Just noticed in the two diagrams that you posted, the numbers are different for the part I need.. lol. Not sure whether its #6 or #7.

Ha...didn't notice that. It's #6 in the ebay listing, but #7 in the onlinemazdaparts diagram. The Mazda part number (B25D50660D) is the same so I guess technically that's what matters most.

Yes that PDF is for all protege form 99-03 it's my bilbe lol but you must know your model I had a hard time getting rear links .. For a few parts I called mazda corporate and gave them my VIN #

That PDF is EXTREMELY helpful! I'll have to bookmark that for sure. I can see I'll be referring back to that often.
Might as well ask while i'm sitting at work wondering about the trim... Anyone have any clue how to get it off?

Per the service manual - which you should download here and keep a copy handy on your smartphone and/or PC:

Thanks Hank.
So happy that I have to remove the whole door panel/glass...

Yeah...that's a stinker. I've never attempted removing the rear glass before. If you have to remove the interior door panel, I've attached the PDF for that.

It looks as though I'll have to remove the interior door panel to remove the glass (which I don't understand why I should have to do this). I don't see why it shouldn't just snap out like the front does. When I get off work today I'll have to take a look at it. Just had to replace the passenger side mirror yesterday and now this.

I find it odd that glass removal is instructed, but I've never attempted to remove the trim piece before so...

Hopefully it's not that involved and you're successful at removing it without much trouble.

Not for the window belt dressing there's a screw in the door frame that you have to remove then the piece will slide off there's a couple plastic tabs to be aligned on the replacement but you do not need to remove the interior door panel.

This is what I like to hear!
