Protege MP3 Vs. Celica GT

nice comments, and i know that the MP3 won't have a slight chance against the GT-S 6-m but i'm thinking it might have a chance against the GT-S auto cause i sure like Kepo said auto is like losing alot of power.
 
i kinda figured that the MP3 could keep up with the GT-S auto. thanx guys,. i just don't wanna get my ass handed to me if i get beat by a Auto GT-S. :D
 
If an MP3 can hang with a GTS auto, that is sad for the celica. I know it is auto but it won't lose that much power. If you race a GTS, don't expect to win. I have yet to see a celica GT race so I don't know if it would be able to take the MP3 or not. I have a feeling that the GT would still win if it was a stick. Just a fact for you guys. I have read that the Protege ES has a faster 0-60 time than the MP3. I don't know why that is but it is what I have heard. Honestly, have any of you read about that?
 
I raced a 96 celica this past sunday and won by a car, from a 20 roll, he had headers, intake, and exhaust, and yes it was a 5 spd. :D
 
I don't know INtialRes i was gonna get the ES.20 Instead of the MP3 cause i was looking around for the MP3 at the SelmaAutomall and they said they never heard of the MP3 coming out this summer but they told me if they heard of it they will call me. So i waited and a few months later august came and they said they had one laser blue mica MP3 and they barely had it come in. I couldn't test drive it cause they said it was Mazda"s vette that they cant test drive it and only take it off the lot. Anyways we test drove the Es.20 and it felt nothing like the MP3.
 
Yes, even if it is an Auto, it still has the GT-S engine, it is still 200lb less than the MP3, it is still 180hp, it is still possible to go up to 7000rpm and kick in the VVTL-I. I really don't think the MP3 could keep up with the GT-S Auto.

I have never heard that the ES could go faster than the MP3. But consider the MP3 has the 17" rims, it really slow down the car a lot.
I had beaten my friend's GT auto, but it was a close race. For the manual, I say the GT have 60 and we 40, depend on the driver.

I know you guys like the MP3, and so do I. But the reality is, GT-S is obviously faster. However, the GT-S is priced at 33000-35000CDN and while the MP3 is only 24000CDN. Even if we are slower than the GT-S Auto, there is no need to feel shame.

Interior = You be the judge
Looks = Hands down MP3
Handling = Do I really have to answer this?
Sound system = This is becoming a little onesided isn't it?

The only thing the GTS is better in is a straight line, and yes it is better. But in my opinion, the GTS doesn't stand a chance in any other catagory. So yeah, no shame for losing a straight line race. After you lose, challenge that guy to an autocross race, where your car really shines.

And the fact is, whipping turns is a HELL of a lot more fun than dragging.

BTW - The ES doesn't have any of the performance-minded suspension mods of the MP3, and that is why it feels so different. As far as the ES beating the MP3 in the 0-60, the MP3 probably carries more weight, with the body styling (bumpers, front & rear, side sills, wing, etc. ) and also with the 17" wheels. I'm sure they are heavier than stock ES rims. The beefy sway bars add a couple of LBs, also.
 
OK guys, let's be a little more realistic about the performance of our vehicles. I just got done racing on a road course yesterday with about seven Celicas in various trim (a few GT's and a few GT-S's). A few of them I passed with little problem and a few of them I had no chance of catching. Actually, a Celica GT lead the pack the whole way through, the GT-S's couldn't quite catch him. This guy runs basically stock with the exception that he is a GREAT driver and he was running Kumho V700 tires(sticky!). I got smoked by a GT-S in a straight. He had also had a new complete Hotchkis suspension system that was really helping him through the turns. There was also a CRX si there that I never caught up to (He started in front of me). When we had a previous run he started behind me and never caught me. I was going back and forth with a guy is a Subaru Legacy 2.5L AWD wagon. He would pull ahead of me then I would get a jump on him in the turns and catch up and pull in fron of him. I also seriously smoked a 2000 V6 Mustang because, lets face it, that thing has a HORRIBLE suspension. He had me in the straights which was the only place we were allowed to pass. But he let me by becasue I was giving him too much pressure in the turns. I was having to slow WAY down to keep from being up his tailpipe. He had to brake WAY early to get his car to stck through any kind of turn. The Celi's smoked him as well. He had the most horsepower by far but EVERYONE smoked him! He started behind me so when I passed him I was actually lapping him! Probably not a very good driver either. In the end I have major respect for the Celica. I have driven the automatic version and was VERY disappointed. But all these guys had manuals and many of them had at least intakes, but so did I(MHP Carbon Fiber) and they could easily be competitive and in many cases beat my car around the track. BUT I will say that the driver makes the difference. I know that a couple of those Celi's I passed had at least 180 Hp and could easily have beat me on the straights but I just out drove them in the corners, becasue I could (thanks to the MP3's suspension). But I won't say our cars are that much better than theirs and, in many ways, ours are not as good. They gave me respect and all came over a ogled the beauty of the MP3 and gave me respect for the performance of the vehicle as well. If we had 180 Hp. stock, they'd really be in trouble, but we don't. Their cars are lighter, have more horsepower and probably have a lot less drag due to their wedge shape. Style points are about equal with the Action Package on the Celi(maybe not).

my girl has a 01 gt with the action package on it and i drove her car and my man drove mine....the celica was pretty slow from 0-60...it felt a lot slower than my car...the mp3 took it off the line...then we raced from a straightaway where i was gaining ground on the mp3but then it came to the turn and the gt just cant hang with our handeling..and my man pretty much pulled 2 car lenghts on the turn and was out...it seems like the gthas great high rpm spedd just slow gettin to it...but hands down to the vvt-i cause kit does scream at 500 rpm...and then it is a rocket....so got one gt under my belt there is another blue oine in her town who is next
 
the Altima 3.5SE V-6 auto does 0-60 in 7.3sec
the Altima 3.5SE V-6 5-m does 0-60 in 6.28sec. See how much difference there is in the 0-60 run, 1.1sec with the same engine. So there is a matter of being manual tranny and auto tranny. So sorry Oceanpark :mad: there is a difference of a car having manual tranny and auto tranny. the car might have the same hp and same engine but i bet one is geared different than the other.
 
Celica is a sport car, the auto tranny is not tuned like the Altima does, which is a family sedan. Even if it is an auto, it shifts at high rpm.

In an auto tranny vehicle, most of the people can run 0-60 consistently, because it requires no skill. But in a standard, most of the people usually run slower than the magazine stated, because those are really tough drivers.

I am not saying that an auto could go faster than a manual, but a Celica is a Celica, even if it is an Auto. It is still faster than MP3. It has many advantages over the MP3 not only the horsepower, but also in terms of weight and shapes. The MP3 is obviously run slower in a straight road than an auto GT-S!

Stop giving me data please, I read magazine, I seen enough of them. Mr Mag racer.
 
boy i still don't think an auto GT-S would beat an mp3. you have your own mind of opinion and i have my mine, you think of horsepower makes the difference well that's you and i'm me. And i did not start nothing to call you names, but if you wanna start then (**** YOU BIOOTCH) ******* WANNABE OCEANPARK RACER. :mad: don't get mad cause you can't race for s*** or beat a bicycle.
 
lol...dude. you get angry too fast. i drove my friends celica gt-s WITh an auto tranny today. floored it from the start. sorry to say, they're way faster than our MP3's...VVTL-i kicks ass dude. seriously you need to watch your temper...most of us cant stand your posts as is...
 
Ya bro i understand but i don't talk stuff unless someone who likes to start something where ok,Oceanpark said stop giving me this nonsense data, iv'e read all magazine's quit with the mag racer ,you mag racer. He like's to start something like i said when i first post this topic i just wanted to know what car they think is faster without anyone giving anyone any negative feedback i'm just asking politely. Is that so hard or is Oceanpark having a cow. that's good to know that you tested the GT-S auto, in my opinion i just thought it would be a close race. thanx :D
 
See, this guy act like a child once again. Don't b**** around when you can't figure out something to proof your point. This is not my opinion, it is fact. And Yes, HP makes the difference, a huge difference. Else, a Manual Echo probably goes faster than GT-S.

By the way, I never ever never claim that I am a racer or anything. Seem like you are the one who keep emphasizing how many race you do a week. Or how you beat every single car with you 94LX.

Excuse me i state how i race everyone. Your the one telling me that the MP3 is slow so that means you have raced cars then or not,i guess so. Cause you raced the GT-S 6-m, volkswagen cabrio and few others you posted long time ago so i guess you are eating your own s*** again and made your bed so face it and sleep in it. Don't hate cause my 94 Lx is fast and can take a bicycle. :mad:
