Back in the fall, we found an old RX7 race car that had been sitting in a barn for 10 years. It was in good shape, built by a reputable builder, and has an engine that was built by a great local engine builder, getting 270hp at the flywheel out of a 13B N/A with turbo rotors and seals.
Anyway, here are some pics from when we first got it:
Well, it's been stripped of decals, the seat is out with a new one on order and a fresh coat of while paint on the interior. The outside is currently sanded and I am just finishing some body work then the car is going for paint. Carb has been cleaned and rebuilt, and we got the car running. Tranny and diff fluids have been changed.
Next on the list are:
Dual Core Rad
5-lug hub conversion +new calipers +brake pads
Replace shocks/struts
Replace belts and hoses
Install new seat and harness
Install tach and custom data logger
Revise installation of window net for new rules
Re-route fire system tubes
Safety Wiring
Install new exhaust
Install duckbill spoiler and splitter
Paint and decals
New wheels and tires
God it's gonna be a busy next couple months...
So here are some pictures as it sits now:
I did some more sanding last night and put some putty on a couple dips and rough spots and sanded that. It's just about ready for paint! I spoke with our painter last night (our sponsor is a collision shop) and we're starting to make arrangements for that.
It's going to be white again, with the decal scheme being a replica of the current Speedsource RX8 decal scheme with the rotors down the side of the car.
