[Prodigy's Race Protege Project]

yeah, the only difference is the side markers
+3.

It probably did not align well because they didn't take the time to fit it.
It's the same bumper with holes..

___

I installed a new toy today - TurboXS RFL BOV
Sounds awesome... though I'm having stalling issues (and can't relocate the MAF due to the MAM hardpipes).
I'm going to block off the vent port and wait for the megasquirt ECU to be installed (no MAF).

*pics to be posted whenever my computer recovers from it's down syndrome mode.

I thought the msp and p5 bumpers in the later years were the same? i.e. they stopped making the p5 with the sidemarker in the bumper?
All Protege5 (02-03) have the side markers on the bumper because there is no amber marker in the headlight like the Protege sedan

from what ive been told the msp bumper does not match up when put on an 02 p5
All '01+ 3rd gen Protege front bumpers are interchangeable. I have an MSP bumper on my Protege5. Some people think that the 02+ Protege bumpers won't fit on the 99-00 Proteges, but I've seen pictures of an MSP bumper on a Protege with the 2-piece headlight assembly.

The bottom part was molded on.

The 01+ bumpers won't fit the inner part of the headlights on a 99-00 protege.

IMO the 99-00 front end is way sexier than the later fascia, especially with the sport20 kit.

I may have some -AN stuff for you. Let me see what I have. Do you need any other fittings besides -6 stuff? I have a lot -10 fittings and line. I believe I sold some of the -6 line but may have more. I have lots of other parts if you need :)
I'll definitely need more than An -6. I just need to spend a day trying to figure everything out but I don't have much time due to school.

I relocated my MAF sensor and finally got things running right.
The BOV sounds great.

Also, purchased a set of Corbeau's from aMaff for the race car.

I've got the following, let me know if you need/want any of it

AN -10 hose ends for braided line, one straight one 45*
AN -10 hose ends for pushlock rubber hose, two straight
I have like 10ft of Aeroquip pushlock -10 hose
And a small (maybe 1ft) of -10 SS braided line

Then a couple fittings
AN -10 union (male to male)
AN -10 union 45* angle (male to male)
AN -10 to 18x1.5mm union (male to male)
1/8" BSPT male to 1/8" NPT female

I'll definitely need more than An -6. I just need to spend a day trying to figure everything out but I don't have much time due to school.

is that the turboXs bov? ive dealt with 2 of them in the past and they have a issue with the stock spring..not having alot of tension. i never got a chance really fix it.

i have the same BOV, i just dont have mine installed yet :(
Be prepared to relocate your MAF closer to the TB.

Sure is.
Luckily, the guy before me already bought a new spring.
He had an issue getting the thing to work... I spent 30 minutes cleaning the crud on the inside with gasoline.
Needless to say, all is well.

He said Ace Hardware actually had some.
(It's a replacement spring for the spinning part of a weed whacker).

Has your friend tried using washers to add tension?

Yep, your car is now a 1.6L automatic and driving... (gossip)
I'm waiting on my parents to rent one of those carpet vacuums before I put the interior back in. (pics to follow)
Here's the pics finally.

Proof that it's pretty damn hard to find a replacement open-diff for a 99 F25M-R transmission

I'm selling the white one for race car money and I'm selling the red one (3-4 months from now) for a '99 miata daily driver.

i've got my stock msp turbo set-up (turbo needs to be rebuilt) that i'll let go cheap if you need it.

exhaust mani, turbo, dp

Le sigh...

Looking at those pictures makes me realize how much I miss that car lol. I'm glad you could bring it back to life mate.

I already have the MAM sleeper kit, I appreciate the offer though!

you probably wouldn't want it anymore... 1.6L NA is uberslowness.
It's currently being used as a 14.5 gallon gas tank (Atlanta is out of gas for the non-georgians) until I buy a new battery.

One Step Closer...

I had my pressure washer stolen from my garage about 3 weeks ago.
(F'ing parents left the garage door open during the day)
This prevented me from epoxying the other half of the garage.

Well, I went out and bought a new one on Friday. I cleaned the surface and finally finished the garage floor.
So, as soon as I get the new shelving and workbench built and bring the 25 tons of tools back from the basement I'll bring the race car chassis down from the lake house (assuming we have gas by then).

So, I need everyone's opinion on a paint scheme. (I'll have a 03.5 front end, msp sideskirts, and a custom rear valence)

I'm pretty much open to anything but:
-I don't want yellow because it's yellow
-Or spicy because it's too expensive and it'll be too hard to color match if I have to replace panels
-And I don't want to copy Tripoint's paint scheme :)

Current ideas:
  • Chevy orange [Gary Gist's World Challenge protege]
    ei14zr.jpg
  • white [ti-ben's sedan]
    2412r9g.jpg
  • silver
    jsotj7.jpg
  • 787B? (screwy)
    mazda_787b.jpg
  • maybe something rally inspired?
    0610sccp_01z+ford_focus_wrc_rally_car+side_view.jpg
I'm leaning towards white inside and out

Chevy orange. Bright, borderline obnoxious race cars tend to receive a lot more focus than bland ones. Complex paint schemes, although cool, are a paint to fix after signficant contact. That's where vinyl comes in.
