[Prodigy's Race Protege Project]

Atleast, I'm ok... I was about 20 feet from 2 telephone poles.

The thing that really pissed me off was that there was no response from the car when I was trying to regain traction. (tires are balding)
I had plenty of time to think things through even though it was a matter of two seconds.
First, tried counter-steering but it proved to not help. The car was still sliding straight.
Tried lifting off the brakes to attempt to regain enough traction to steer, didn't help.

The only thing that I could have done was hit the gas to point the car in the right direction but my time to counter-correct was already up.

The weight in the rear really f'ed things up.

hmmm... so i should be adding weight to the rear if i want my back to come out at autocross? (uhm)

ps - glad you're okay... sorry to see the wreck :(

If you want snap oversteer, go for it. (second)

My car had a perfect balance before the added weight.
I could push the car as hard as I wanted to around 270 exit ramps and there would be the slightest bit of oversteer.
Now, I definitely won't push it. It's not worth the risk.

I've decided to go with the Hugger (chevy) orange for the exterior, and pure white for the interior (including the roll cage).

Unfortunately, the project will be another month behind and a door short.

Long story short:
-I was running late to work speeding excessively
-lost control due to my stiff settings on my AWR rear sway bar combined with about 200lbs of metal in the trunk
-took out a sign and destroyed all four wheels and tires

I'm selling both cars (red + white) and will be cycling daily for the rest of my college career.
I only need the race car for the track from now on.

damn that really sucks

Damn, glad to hear your ok. By the looks of the tire marks on the road it looks like you spun around pretty good.

Yeah, thank goodness you're alright, and if you need to go anywhere, you've got a 1.6 auto Protege in alright condition (I wonder where ya got that one ;)) It's even got a full set of miata daisies on it for ya!

want to sell me the exhaust part i need for cheap? :p

the tire marks are kinda artistic...

lol, your car left it's dna on the road!
Sure looks like it. (2thumbs)

its kinda hard to see which way u were coming, and how u slid.
I came from the far side in the pic... I hope Google Earth updates before the marks disappear.

I'd have to let them go for the average value... I need to buy a stud welder and paint for the entire car. Donations Accepted!

Try emailing him, from what I understand he won't be on too often anymore.
true, I'm falling behind in school but that's more than likely due to driving 80 miles a day back and forth from school.
I'm trying to only go on the forums during the weekends.

Man, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about there, just keep plugging away at it.

I finally got a chance to do a little work on the car.

-installed front sub-frame, suspension, and wheels
-slapped on doors, fenders, bumpers, trunk and hood
-removed widebody fenders and exterior rust
-sprayed the exterior white temporarily to prevent rust

The boosted engine and trans will be in relatively soon :)
(And yes, it'll be resprayed as soon as the bodywork is complete)
