$$$ PRICE of MazdaSpeed Protege $$$

Did they write anything about what they thought of the vehicle or was it more of a rehash of stuff we already knew about?

Priced under $25,000....

I certainly hope not. I the latest issue of Road & Track they reported the price to priced uner $25k. Silly how we keep hearing all these different prices. First it was $22k, then $20k, now $25k.

Well before we all get our collective panties in a wad -(as it were)-about the reporting of possible MSRP of the MSP, we should remember that these magazine factoids are written from the very same press releases we all saw about the time of the NY Auto Show. Just because one reporter bangs in "under 25,000" while another types "under 20,000" is editorial license more than additional knowledge on the subject.

Pricing the MSP at anything close to $25k damages Mazda in two ways. First, $25,000 US is Mazda6's side of the showroom. Secondly, pricing the car that high puts it out of the reach of the tuner market that they want to seed with those 2000 units. Remember that putting down 25 large on a new car moves you into a different set of vehicles like the Audi A4, Toyota Camry and even the Volvo S40. Those cars have features and finish beyond what Mazda can offer on the current Protege.

I read the same snipit...I highly doubt it will cost 25 g's...I'm going to estimate low 20's...21...maybe 22 g's tops...will see.

My local dealer has been known to automatically install dealer BS like lojack and other crap to justify a mark up...with tax, fees and some markup youre probably looking at a total around low 20's.

Their isnt much room to negotiate with a limited edition like the MS.

I hope its not much more than the mp3will see.

$25,000?? $20,000?? Does it really matter??

I don't think Mazda is going to over price the car. They know the market and they know what they can charge for the car.

I'm just gonna sit back and watch to see how much it is. I know I can't but it, so I'm not going to worry about how much they seel it for.

Although, if the dealer let's me trade for it, that would be kind of cool...

I say 19,700 IMO...

I seriously, highly doubt that the MS-P will be priced at a mere $19,700. Of course we never know, but thinking realisticly it shouldn't be priced that low although it would be nice. Look at the price difference of the 2.5RS to the WRX or the older Eclipse GS to the GS-T. The turbo alone should easily raise the price by $2500. Just my thoughts.

I agree with apexi,
I the car goes over the price of 23000 msrp there will be some issues with the dealers selling the cars.

I would take a WRX but thats just me:cool:

Before i order my Mazdaspeed protege...

Hey guys..
This is my very first time posting on this board. i've been reading many threads on this board for about 3 weeks now. I'm in search for a new car, and i've decided that MAZDASPEED protege is what i want.
I've went to 2 different dealers already, and non of the 2 can give me an exact price for this car. Some believe that it is b/t $26-27K CAN and IMO anything that begins with a $27K is pretty expensive for a car of this level. Some who have already order, say that they paid $25,500 and i think this is what i would pay. How do i know who is trying to make more profit from me?. I understand that this is a limited production car and i know discount is next to nothing. But i just want to know the exact MSRP. I don't want to order a car if i don't even know the exact MSRP. how can i possiblity buy a car like that?
Anyways, For those who are in the Greater Toronto Area, which dealership do you find most friendly? I went to Markham and Nortoh Toronto and i don't seem to like either. Salesman doesn't know anything about the car, and just wants me to order! I don't want to be forced to purchase something that i don't know much of. How is Morningside/ Avante?
Thanks in advance!
-Limited Edition

I ordered one, exactly two weeks ago. I cannot wait. I went to the Mazda in the Erin Mills Auto Mall in Mississauga, the guy was a typical salesman, but he gave me all of the information that he had been given on the car and said he would hold an order for me for a couple of days while I pondered my financial situation. He told me that it would be between $25k - $26k, more likely nearer to $25k. So I decided I would save the $5000 over a SVT Focus ( the other car I was considering ) and put an order in. I had to give him a $1000 deposit that I can use as part of my down payment when the car arrives or get my money back when the car gets here. Unfortunately this dealership is only getting two of them and I was the second. So maybe they can direct you to another dealership with equal customer service. GOOD LUCK.

I ordered mine from Burlington Mazda, good guy knows the car now. Perry 905-333-0595

Unfortunatly both are sold that they are getting, but worth a call you never know.

No dealer knows the MRSP yet, but in Ontario at least thats the price.

I don't like North Toronto at all - very ignorant & arrogant sales people when I went for a quote for my MP3. I got mine at Westowne Mazda @ 427/Dundas because my friend knows the owner. Very friendly service & knowledgeable technicians. Avante is also very good, but they do get quite busy on weekends.

I rather buy a WRX wagon for $22,500 USD. I came VERY close to buying one and that was their best price. The WRX runs mid 14's all day. I doubt the MSP will break into the 14's (STOCK VS. STOCK). Even the Acura RSX- S will be quicker than the MSP!! I would not pay more than $21k for a MSP!!
