Power Steering system failure

Hello friends,

My car got an accident yesterday. When I turned to left, another one hit my right side fog lamp. After towing my car to my home, I found the power steering system is failure. I checked the EHPAS 80A fuse, it is OK. No physical damage. Still extremely hard to turn the wheel.
What's the reason for this failure? Before it works well.
I learn that the EHPAS module in power steering pump will record some DTC info.

My question is, is that possible to replace a new pump and everything will be fine? $250
Or should I find dealer to erase this information instead of replacing the pump? More expensive.

Thanks for your suggestion, Experts : )

If you got into accident have the car checked. It should be covered by insurance if you are making a claim.
We had a his at the back side and that jolted car enough to screw up power steering rack but the damage to the car was minimal.

The EHPAS module/pump is located by the washer reservoir on the passenger front. Check or damage to the 2 pin pwr/gnd connector or the 4 or 3 pin communication connector (may have a communication code stored... Code starting with a U). If all is well then is possible the module/pump assembly may have failed. Junk yard parts will work but will need to be programmed to the vehicle for proper performance.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem with my mazda 2. The steering wheel was stiff and really hard to turn. I consulted Apex Specialized Automotive Inc, it is one of the providers mazda service in Edmonton. They told me the steering fluid is leaking and better to change the steering pump. I think you are also facing the same problem. Anyway check the fluid level and also check whether it has any leaks somewhere.
