True, the SRT-4 will out power the MSP, but not out handle it. Plus the Neon is a grenade waiting to happen...Look at the regular Neon for crying out loud. I don't want my car to sit in the shop that often.

I'll give you that (drinks) I have never heard of a reliable Neon. But there are those rare occasions. I do think with a engine build and a tranny upgrade, our cars will be able to kill a SRT4
 
I would like to add my experience... Last night on my way home some guy in an old honda crx pulls up next to me in a light and revs his engine so I look at him and smile nice ride ... (but in my mind I'm think look at this Idiot in a honda piece of s***) So when the light turned green he took off hard but I took of slow just to hear If he had any big modds to it yup it was a supercharged crx. So at the next light we take off again half way down the street we encounter traffic so ofcourse MP3's can handle in and out of traffic at like 75 mph and "STUPID" Honda owner tried to do the same but I guess poor LIL crx couldnt handle it... so he almost ended up clipping some one from the back. Afterwards he caught up to me after 3 blocks down he said lets go again I told him sorry man you lost nice try though next time waste your money on something that will actually get you somewhere!
 
ahaha thats pretty funny story. My friend charlie though has a 12 second hatch, its seriously insane riding in it, it's to fast. I think the subu is a way more powerful car than the msp even modded, but the msp cost a'lot less, when most suburu owners end up paying 29, to 30 grand for there cars. The srt-4 has a'lot of power but that thing is soo ugly would you really want to drive around in that thing over a msp. The msp just looks soo much better and they are both the same price range. The msp is by far the best out of them because you get more than all those cars for the money.
 
I know most of you performance nuts would much rather spend 10 bucks on a droplet of race gas than 10 bucks on anything to make your car look better..but let's face it..Although you all are goin for speed..looks matter. period. If I lost to an SRT-4 in an MSP by 1 second or whatever I would bite that in stride knowing my car looks 400x better than that bubble on wheels..

I drive an MP3, and I love it..It's just a hot freakin car...I will mod it and I will put a turbo on it and NO, it won't be the fastest car in the world but who ever said it would be? It comes down to having a cool car...and, although the MSP might be one step behind the performance realm, it is 10 steps ahead of any of the cars in its class..and I definately don't think that is something that should be looked past so easily...
 
yea the msp is soo tight, i mean its what we always wanted a stock turbo. Its cheaper than all the other cars and comes with a lot of goodies.
 
Just got to read this one and I'm still laughing. Let's not take it to heart, ladies and gentleman. There are so many apples to compare...it's so tough. If you're on this board, obviously you like the MP3, P5, MSP look and maybe their performance. I work at an auto auction. I drive 996's, Vipers, M5's, Vettes, 350Z's, ScoobyDoos, everything. To me, the most fun car to drive is the P5 (or other variant.) That's why I bought one! They feel light like a civic, handle well like a sport equipped GTi, and the build quality is the highest of any cars I've seen in the under 25,000 range. Drive a P5, then a WRX...the power is great, the AWD is great, but the shifting isn't as slick, the seats aren't as comfortable, the interior doesn't look or function as well (and they tend to rattle...which I guess isn't a problem for you rally drivers as rattles and stones hitting the floorboards are normal to you), and it just plain looks like a juiced subaru on the outside. Even when the supercharger is done, my 1.8T jetta will probably end up being faster (if not, the V8 Volvo will!) but I think I'll still have the most fun driving the red P5. Later.
 
The neon is a good comparison but like most said, reliability and looks. The neon has a 2.4, big FMIC, and at a high 1 bar (okay maybe .9 bar) for a production car. You can run on a bar but with plenty of heavy foots I bet the lot boys will know you so well in service. Plus I talk to a parts guy at a Dodge dealership, he'll take any Mazda over the forever breaking Neon.

Just be glad no one got hurt in that race. What if the other guy would have hit a van with a family? Other traffic are NOT CONES to be swerved around. I'm no saint myself though, but just be careful. :cool:
 
I seriously doubt any driver on the street will be able to hit 14.1 or whatever that neon gets, let's face it, car & driver can drive better than most people out there, I've been to the track dozens of times and have never seen a stock or even a near stock WRX hit anything close to 14.1, normally they get mid to upper 14's, I've even seen 15's! Plus add the fact that the neon is FWD and probably weighs all of a thousand pounds up there and with 230 ponies all it's gonna be good for is a good burn out, launching it will be a b****. I'm not afraid of the SRT-4, I can't wait till an encounter. :) But if I loose to a neon I will never admit it.... j/k
 
A slightly modified WRX (intake, cat back, MBC) can run 13's.
Its been done before.
Getting an MSP into the 13's is going to take a lot of parts.
Turbo, intercooler, new piping, fuel pump, Boost controller, exhaust, intake, slicks, ECU mods. etc.
You cant mess with AWD turbos when it comes to acceleration.

Yeah it happends once in a while, but do you really think all of those subaru owners out there who think they own a Australian car can get those numbers??? And I believe that it just about the majority. Plus they're AWD, easier to launch than the SRT-4, my stepdad has an Audi S4, I know what AWD is like, you have to be stupid not to get a good launch out of it. Now in my car a good launch involves not spinning in 2nd gear too much!!! Thats cause it FWD...

Right and how many people do you think can run the a 15 flat in a MSP?
15 flat can be done but I bet you will see abunch of people in the mid 15's because it is WWD and the more power you make the harder it gets to launch.
 
Yes, I was speaking of MSPs but enlighten me as to your current modifications.
IE- Fuel, turbo kit, exhaust and tires.
