Possible MS3 Intake Shootout?

:
10 MS3
With the amount of intakes available increasing, I thought it would be interesting to see which one is actually the KING of Intakes for the MS3. The testing would have to be done on a stock MS3, on the same dyno, with possibly the same conditions(ie. temp etc. etc.) Would anyone be interested in going ahead with this? I would be willing to spend my Pesos on purchasing an HKS/Autoexe intake and sending it to the test vehicle. All other intakes available would have to be donated by owners or manufacturer for testing. The only other thing would be the price of the dyno and compensation for the test vehicle. What do you guys think?

Not sure if you'll get a lot of support on this. Only reason I comment is because there are dynos already posted for all the various intake configurations. Granted dynos on different cars with different conditions will be different... but the overall gains can be compared. Thus far from what I've seen on the boards... the Injen appears to be post the highest gains. The Mazdapeed intake is surprisingly pretty good a just below Injen. They're all pretty much in the same range so you really can't go wrong with picking intakes at this point.

I already had the feeling there would not be a lot of support for this. But I am throwing it out there anyways. Like you said different dyno's and different cars. I wanted to see all of the them on the same dyno and car. I might end up doing it myself..........................but the results wouldn't be available for another 3 years :D.

like he said...they're all pretty much the same. you really cant go wrong. your only looking at a difference of a few hp. plus, each car may respond differently to a CAI, so your car with a MS CAI and someone elses with an injen CAI may have the same performance gain.

Im just going with the MS intake so i dont have to worry about it voiding my warranty. Same for the coils. On turbocharged cars a cold air intake is the last thing you really need to worry about power gains because you dont even get that much at all from them.

On a MS3, they do make a difference...

On our car they are showing about 15hp to 20hp gains. Its most peoples first mod here.

I dont believe it, ive never seen an intake on any car boost up the HP that much, i might have to do my own dyno tests, i just cant see 15-20hp.

Well, the data is there dude, do a search... It makes a difference on these cars...

i was as skeptical as you once, but from what i have sold and seen they make a very good gain over stock

king of all intakes = autoexe

where in the world did you come up with that assumption?! i would say the total opposite of what you said. on NA cars they dont add that much of a difference. Especially on the MS3 the stock intake box was incredible restrictive. Imagine taking one of those little stirring straws for coffee, you know the ones with the little passages? well that is the MS3 stock intake. Now take a big straw from McDonalds and try drinking from that?? what flows more?? and in a car with a turbo when that turbo spools it is sucking air through the intake at a force that is several times greater than an NA car.

Ive been dealing with turbo cars in the VW scene for 4 years, thats where i came up with my "assumption". I have not once seen an intake on ANY car make 15-20hp, yeah it is better for the car for the fact that its breathing better but i personally have never seen that much gains and just find it hard to believe. Im not new to cars, i know my s*** and im just voicing what i think.

Sorry my friend, but the dyno #s are everywere on this forum. Intakes make a very good gain in the ms3.

when i was installing my CAI i didnt have enough tim to finish right away because something came up. so in the middle of the install i stuck the cone on the end of the first pipe and took off. it gave HP gains but when i finished installing the CAI later that morning the gains were much more noticeable. it could be just because the CAI tubing wasnt meant for short ram thats where the lack of *umph* was. but from my experience the CAI was much a greater in power felt.

Plus....800 bills? that thing better blow you better than a red light district *****!!!
