PnP Standalone engine management

I need a list of how many people would be interested in a standalone solution for tuning these cars. The unit would provide complete control over all aspects of fuel, timing, cam timing, throttle plate control, and everything else you could think of. The unit would hooked in parallel with the factory ECU and the factory ecu would keep control of all CAN functions (gauges ect).

The unit we would be using would be the Hydra Nemesis.
Here is a little more info about the unit.

  • Dual 16bit 25MHz Processors
  • Plug and Play
  • Windows programmable Software w/ Direct Serial cable Connection
  • Uses All Factory sensor.
  • Retains all factory functions
  • EGR
  • Purge Control
  • Power Steering
  • Coolant and AC Control
  • Factory Intercooler Spray, EVOVIII and Sti
  • Air Conditioning
  • Boost Control
  • Idle Speed ( Both Solenoid and Stepper Types)
  • Cold Start Compensation

These units are not currently in production. Initial pricing may vary from $1600 to $2200 or more. These units will allow far more tunability then any other unit on the market and will allow you to push your car to higher power levels more safely. The more people that show interest the more likely that this is going to happen.

Interested. Looks like a very nice unit. I'm close to getting tuned with the Procede from Dyno4mance.com. Unit, install, and custom dyno tune for less than 1k. I'd have to see some actual results to choose this instead. Also, are you absolutely positive it will be completely pnp with ms3?

Im in again. And assuming the decision was made today to rocknroll on this how far out would we be looking?

Do they have experience with DI motors?
I am VERY interested, but so many parts that appear to be a "solution" for our obstacles never seem to come through.
I think it would be impossible to get people to commit before you guys have a true 400+whp car running reliably with it.
Good luck, I really hope it works out.

BTW, wouldn't this be considered a piggyback?

Kinda sorta but not really. Think of it as turning your car into a dual processor system. The new processor will run in tandem with the original one, but completely takes over the duties of engine management, so the factory maps have no bearing on how the engine runs. The original ECU has no effect on all the things we tweak, like spark advance, boost pressure level, etc. You are no longer trying to manipulate the factory ECU by adding a couple of points of fuel at a certain rpm and boost pressure. With this you simply tell the system how many degrees of advance you want, what the duty cycle of the injector should be, etc and it directly controls the appropriate component. Instead of fooling the ECU, you simply cut it out of the equation and take over some of its functions.

Edit: Okay, lots of its functions.

there are systems that run in parallel with factory ECUs that are still considered standalones. were this system come to pass, thats what this would be.
