I have used one, it is very much lacking in features and capabilities in comparison to the Hydra.
Heh...what version did you use? Code variant, MS1 or MS2, etc?
The biggest thing it has going for it over MS is just software based right now.
This is going to get a little off topic as MS can't run a DISI engine right now and there is no current plans for it to support it....
My personal MS on my mx6 does:
16x12 fuel tables that fully interpolate (btw, does Nemisis do that?) so the use of a 32x32 can be a bit overkill for many mid boost solutions.
switchable spark fuel maps (on the fly)
Speed Density or MAF
Nitrous control
AntiLag
Flatshift/Launch control
Water Injection
Staged injectors
Wasted spark (I run wasted on my v6, can do seq. 4cyl)
can run low-z inj. out the box (no dropping resistors)
closed loop afr correction using up to two o2 sensors/autotune
wideband support (doesn't include driver like the Hydra does, though...thus requires external controller currently)
soft and hard cut limiters with either spark/fuel or both.
boost control
knock control
4 bar map sensor onboard (comes with a 21psi sensor stock)
multiple programmable outputs
tach output
Air and Coolant corrections
baro correction
overboost protection
and all the typical EMS configurable software stuff (dwell, injector opening time, ego limits, etc).
Now I am not trying to say one or the other is better here, they each have their own purpose in the after market areas. The MS is so much more affordable because its DIY. For example, I have all of the above and not even $320 invested in it. When you buy the kit, it is far from a Turn Key solution like the Hydra is.
Does it do things like sequential injection or cylinder trim? Not currently, but the hardware design is basically done (router board) and its just software development that is going on to properly implement it.
Would I pit it against some other EMS solutions out there, absolutely. I've converted many a users from Hatlech and SDS units over to MS and all of them have been thankful.
Whatever you used must have been very outdated (drinks)
I apologize for getting WAY WAY WAY off topic. As I told Ken on the phone last week. If you guys and Hyrda could come to an initial agreement to get the project going, I'd be a customer as I can't stand the unpredictability of the stock ECU. Whoever makes it to market first gets my cash.
