So last week i did my timing belt change, along with idler, tensioner, water pump, cam seals, crank seals, power steering belt, alt belt, and midevial pullies. Im now suffering from a loud squealing sound when i start the car or start moving from a stop. im wondering if its just bad lubrication or something is seriously wrong ( bad bearings.?.?) Any help or suggestions would help imensly.

Can you try and locate exactly where the sound is coming from? Guessing it wasn't making the sound before you did all this. All the tension in the belts nice and tight?

i cant tell exactly were its comming from its so damn loud.. lol. All the belts are nice and snug.. Its weird, once i get going it seems to go away. but as soon as i stop then begin to accelerate it starts sqeeling

My Pro5 did the same thing. Seems you have to tighten the belts more than you think. I've been replacing belts for years but this engine just seems to want the belts to have more tension than others I've done. I used Goodyear Gatorbacks when I did mine 3 weeks ago. The NAPA belts which were on it previously did not seem to be as tight and didn't squeal.

Yea, i did gatorback belts too.. But when i talked to a mechanic from mazda he said they had been having sqeeling problem with the gatorbacks. So i bought the OEM ones and put those on. ill try tightning down the belt alittle more and see if that helps. I also sprayed some PB Blaster on the pullies this morning and seemed to help some. Im still stumped as to why they keep sqeeling....

My squeal also, but only when it was cold during winter and now whenever it is raining outside. It only does it when the engine is cold, and will do it when driving slowly and accelerating. Many proteges have had this problem. I am eventually gonna tighten the belts more when I get a chance. I also have the gatorback belts.
