MPI is now selling a piston and rod package for both the FI and the NA Protege.

They are our long rod and C-P set up. The pistons will be out very lastest design. For the NA we can do any compression ratio from 9.5 to 12.5. The ring pack will also be designed to work better for the NA engine. For the turbo we will off them in any compression ratio from 9.5 to 7.5. There is a gas port option for better ring sealing at higher rpms. The rods are drop in H beam billets, ARP 2000 bolts, bushed pin bore.

The NA package will be $1150.00 shipped to your door.
The FI package will be $1150.00 shipped to your door.
The gas port option adds $80.00 to the cost of the package.
The turn around time is around 4 weeks from the day you place the order to the day we send them out our door.

This is one of the many new products that MPI will be adding over the next few months.

What about increasing displacement? How bout a 2.2l or 2.3l stroker kit????(thumb)

We now have light weight complete kits.

We a very light weight NA setup. The rods are under 470 grams. They are good for up to 350 hp. With our light weight crankshaft kit you get. Light weight C-P pistons, low tension rings, light weight rods, reworked crankshaft, lighter then stock, improved oiling, better rod bearings and OEM main bearings.

Nick,
This looks like a great deal!
In preparation, I spoke to my local builder, He suggested we tear down the engine before we order, to know what size (overbore to get). Problem is w/ 4 weeks of order time, that will put the car out for @ least 5 weeks.
So I'll have to do some strategic planning first...

If you had the car from new and you have changed the oil as you shouyld have your are fine. Go with .001 over set. The shop will only have to do a clean up hone.

We also have lower end kits, with gaskets and bearings if you need them.

Hey Nick, Bryan here. To touch on the stroker kit.

Has any body bored out the 2.0 and seen gains? If so what was done to the engine?

There are gains of course, Ive seen bored out FS here in PR but I cannot give exact details about it.

Oh, cool, stroker kits? Really? What's the difference in stroke? 92mm worth of stroke is already pretty big. =)

To get up to 2.3L with stroke alone, you'd need about 105mm of stroke, which is 5mm more than the largest stroke on a production engine that is currently being produced. Maybe 2.3L is a bit much to ask, short of overboring AND stroking, and even that, you'd have to have 98mm of stroke and 86mm of bore... That's a 3mm overbore, and a 6mm stroke increase, which would most likely go way into the water jackets.
