well, as some of you may know, i'm 16, and i managed to save enough money to buy a car to go to school and stuff

well, I got this '96 Civic EX Coupe (not planning of riceing it out, as i hate ricers(deadhorse)

It has 72K miles and a 5speed manual tranny

well, enough talk
here are the pics

i took these pics the night i got the car:

I bought it for $1800
it needed new brakes, which i replaced myself (why pay if you can do it yourself(first))
and it needs new CV joints

Comments and ideas are welcome

SHOULDA BOUGHT A PROTEGE!!!!!!!!
jk lol looks nice, what are your plans for it?

I wanted a Protege, but i didn't find one at that price and these conditions

well, i'm not really into appereance, but into performance :)

1st i want to replace the OEM Hu as it doesn't have a CD player, but it has a tape player..

and my step dad works at a towing company, so i'm hoping there will arrive a non-functioning car with nice rims on it as i don't really like the hub caps with steelies(that's how i got rims for my mom's protege when we had it)

I thought all the 96 EX's had the DOHC. I'm pretty sure my friend's did.

It has the SOHC VTEC engine
The Si/SiR was the one with rear dics and DOHC VTEC

The only dohc were the Si. I think you meant that they come w/ v-tech engines.

well the dude also had a 96 del sol... I guess I must of confused it with his EX... its been since 97 since I've seen the cars anyways

well it has a decent amount of dents and the paint has some white spots that look like paint, and the paint in the wing is faded, but the engine feels and drives like new :)

and tose Civic forums have months-old posts at the top of the list(newer ones)

good job dude. good for using your brain and not wasting money on a brand new ride. save more money than you spend and you will be a millionare.

Want a K20a3 and 5-speed for that car? ;) After I do my J-spec Type-R engine/tranny/LSD swap, i'll have one i'll sell you with low mileage..

well, thanks for the replies

when i was going to school, my front left tire is flat, then i realized, some motherfucker stabbed a razor blade into the sidewall, leaving my tire useless, and now i have a job interview and i have to go around with the donut(spare tire)... i will post pics later

Yes i would love to have one, lol

i would like to have that

I give props to anyone that works for something

Congrats.

Great deal too. Heck, you could sell it and make a profit.

thanks:)

as my step dad is a aviation and car mechanic, i have learned a lot from him(thumb)

I also read a lot of the repair manuals( i have the Tribute Service manual, Mazda's version, and the Civic, Honda's version in a .pdf file)

now i'm saving for a new radio and i want some Helios HIDs, hopefully Xenon-Shop will wait a couple of months more (first)

this car in kelley's blue book is at $5k, so i could sell it and buy a Protege, but i like the third gen more, but it is more expensive

Fantastic first car to have. Civics are easy and fun to work on. You'll learn a lot. The replacement parts are cheap and best of all, they're fun to drive.

Enjoy it and way to go.

Well, If you're really interested. After I get back from my deployment to the middle east, which'll be around May or June or so, I'm gonna invest in the swap. Right now, the A3 has close to 5000 miles on it, and will probably only gather 500 miles or so after that. If you're willing to save up a couple grand or so to get it, then you've got Dibs.
