Phen's China Adventure

Subbed! Very cool and entertaining...wish I had a job with this type of opportunity.

Sweet! I guess I probably could have put this in the off Topic section rather than the Ohio section, but whatever. LOL.

Unfortunately, I haven't been updating as much as I'd like to. I've been quite busy, and with getting ready for Vietnam tomorrow, it's even worse.

You are lucky...what a great opportunity to explore the world on the job! How long in vietnam?

take line 1 or 10 to 国贸站 Guo Mao Station, should be called international trade station in english.

I'll be in Vietnam for a week. I just discussed the trip with Mr. Wang and he explained where everything is. We'll fly into Hanoi tomorrow. Drive to Ha Tinh on Wednesday, then meetings at the site in Vung Ang all weekend. Apparently, the site is only a few hundred meters from the South China Sea. I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Thanks for the heads up on China Bar. My apartment is only about 500m from the line 1 subway station (if that). I may just hit you up ahead of time to help me translate the directions. ;) Hahaha.

Yeah... I saw that. Are we talking big bills by China standards, or American standards? I've had me some pretty hefty bar tabs back home... LOL.

Big in US standards...like I said, there is an obscene amount of gold diggers (this is good), esp at high class bars...I don't know about the north, but in the south, most clubs/bars are standing. You pay by the table. If you get a standing table (the cheapest, typically minimum tab of $100 USD), you get this tiny ass table for your party to put stuff on and that is kinda your area. If you are a baller, you can go VIP and get a booth. The minimum tab on VIPs I see are usually $400 USD but they give you a 750 ml of whiskey. If you have a party and split the tab, it's not too bad. Also, beer can be around $30 to $60 for dozen 12oz beers. Bottle of jack/black label anywhere from $35 on up.

So anyways, back to the point:
1.) go dance section
2.) dance with these random girls
3.) point to your section (VIP)
4.) you get a lot of girls
5.) Play dice with them (This may be the most important game you'll ever learn in Chinese culture)
6.) FamilyMart is open 24/7

This doesn't work well if you aren't in the VIP section lol, however, being a foreigner, it might lol

Good luck with the driving, hopefully you have a Vietnamese person driving, they are nuts there!

Just like Thailand.. you really don't know how much you drank when you drink by the pitcher with multiple people...

September 7: Meeting with the customer. All day long. Went well, even though the guy didn't speak much English. Ms. Lin had to translate for me when necessary. After work, we had a banquet with the customer. This is when I found out that servers at some Chinese restaurants will never let your beer glass be empty... 3 large bottles of Yanjing Beer later...

1.) Walk in doors in slow-mo with sunglasses and plaid
2.) Try to act un-interested in the girls (reverse psychology), but when they insist,
3.) Show vid of MSM shooting fire balls
4.) Girls flock to your loins like winged insects to light
5.) ???
6.) Profit

I don't know how you're getting any work done...
