Phen's China Adventure

Big in US standards...like I said, there is an obscene amount of gold diggers (this is good), esp at high class bars...I don't know about the north, but in the south, most clubs/bars are standing. You pay by the table. If you get a standing table (the cheapest, typically minimum tab of $100 USD), you get this tiny ass table for your party to put stuff on and that is kinda your area. If you are a baller, you can go VIP and get a booth. The minimum tab on VIPs I see are usually $400 USD but they give you a 750 ml of whiskey. If you have a party and split the tab, it's not too bad. Also, beer can be around $30 to $60 for dozen 12oz beers. Bottle of jack/black label anywhere from $35 on up.

So anyways, back to the point:
1.) go dance section
2.) dance with these random girls
3.) point to your section (VIP)
4.) you get a lot of girls
5.) Play dice with them (This may be the most important game you'll ever learn in Chinese culture)
6.) FamilyMart is open 24/7

This doesn't work well if you aren't in the VIP section lol, however, being a foreigner, it might lol
Hahaha, gotcha. Thanks man. I'll see what kind of trouble I can get into when I get back...

Good luck with the driving, hopefully you have a Vietnamese person driving, they are nuts there!
Yeah, we have a Vietnamese driver. It's kinda wild here.
Just like Thailand.. you really don't know how much you drank when you drink by the pitcher with multiple people...
Well, they'd put the bottle in front of me... they just never let me glass get low.
I don't know how you're getting any work done...
LOL, win.
so...where's my watch
In Beijing... where I am not. I'm in Vietnam until Monday... I think.

Expect limited updates as I have very sketchy internet when I have it.

being a close minded american, i'm honestly shocked you have such easy(ish) internet access everywhere you go

I guess at first blush it would seem that way, but we're (sadly) pretty far behind the rest of the civilized world, especially in terms of internet speed.

Greetings from Hanoi! So... the jobsite is in Vung Ang here in Vietnam. Aka, very rural and right on the coast of the South China Sea. The scenery all around there is quite good. The hotel we stayed in... not so much. I met several people down there courtesy of a few co-workers. We hung out at a cafe next to the hotel a few times. Very nice people. Two of the fellows taught me a lot about the culture while here. They also found it to be a good idea to introduce me to a few of their female friends. (Damn cute female friends I may add.) Fun times, but I definitely can't wait to get back to Beijing. Seeing Vietnam was cool, but I'd like to get back to where my temporary home is. I've stayed in 4 different hotels during this trip here. The one I stayed in the longest is about a half a star. The Beach resort was about a 3 star. The Ocean Hotel II where I am now... a 4 star. I must also say that after having Pho 3 times a day... I'm ready to go hit up that Hooters in Beijing.

Mmmm, those pics made me hungry, Rob. Om-nom-nom.

I hope you get back to "home" in China soon, Phen! Miss ya buddy! (no homo)

Did you just call God gay?

I miss his long embraces and sweet, soft kisses on my neck.

Long distance relationships just don't work, Rob. I'm sorry you had to find out this way.

ps- I'm buying a Miata now that I'm out of the closet.
