PG Pump Installed

How hard is it to replace the internals? Could this be a DIY with PG selling the upgraded pump hardware?

That would be like saying how bout you just sell me all the parts to make an intake, or exhaust, or etc etc and Ill do it myself. I dont think there is any plans for doing that. When you order a dcr walbro pump they build it for you. Thats how a business makes money on it. Not to mention 90% of the people out there would be lost when it came to tearing a fuel pump down and rebuilding it.

Reading the other development thread(s) that got ugly, I recall that they were thinking of doing this. I believe it has become generally accepted that it is unsafe for the end user to perform the mod due to the very delicate nature of the pump. It needs to be done exactly right, and stay perfectly clean.

That said, there is no reason why you couldn't buy internal pieces from the mfg. and do it yourself. Kind of risky, no guaruntees, etc. For me, the small savings of doing this myself are far outweighed by having a company like PG sell me the completed pump and stand behind it if something goes wrong with it.

Eagerly awaiting some results from the early adopters. Very curious what kind of improvements the uprated pump will give a mildly modded (say, intake only) or even stock ms3. I'm optimisticly hoping for improved consistent driveability and having power extended in the revs.

EDIT: The pump is not avalible for you to assambly yourself as far as I know. You can perform the install yourself. Sorry I was vauge.

we have stated many times there will be no DIY kits offered by us due to liability.

Just a quick question. The Pump looks the same as the factory pump but with upgraded internals right? If so, replacing it should not effect the warranty as they will never know you upgraded the pump.

Or am I completely wrong?

its not guaranteed 100%, but i would say thats its highly unlikely even if they disassembled the pumps that anything would be noticed.

Anyone at PG that could maybe send me a some install instructions?

yes we can do that, send me a fax number or email address.

Look in the other thread. PG says it looks just like stock. The only way a tech could tell is by testing the pressure.

Personally I wouldn't count on Mazda not noticing if they were investigating an engine problem.

if you blow the engine, mazda is going to work very hard to find out why. that said, the pump alone is a less obvious mark in the engine bay than say, a larger turbo, an EMS or a downpipe. if the car were returned to stock with the exception of the pump and brought in for work, its not very likely the average tech would catch it. if they were to check full throttle pressure (which is where the most noticable difference is at) and see it higher than normal, they might then remove the pump to inspect it. it would still appear stock, until they disassemble it and compare it to another diassembled factory pump. is this always going to happen? probably not. but like i said, its never a guarantee you're not going to get caught. when you modify the car you never have any warranty guarantees period, regardless of what part you put on it.

Damn, its only $400... If its really this great...I might just have to order one up...

I just want to know the long term effects with this pump; failures, pre-mature wear, etc...

mrlilguy has had the prototype on his car for quite some time now with no ill effects to report. i don't believe the increased pressure will adversely affect engine components or even the fuel system long term.

what will the new pump do on a stock ms3, will it be noticeable differences? or not unless you have other aftermarket upgrades? (secifically which ones will see the upgrades best potential?)

palerider will be posting his results of what the pump does for a "closer to stock than laloosh's" vehicle soon

Seems like the I/tbe/upping the boost to (18psi) She is halling ass

im going to try to stay close to stock...

cobb intake, CPE TBE, this Fuel pump, SSQV BOV, and maybe intercooler upgrade... and boost controller.... then cobb AP when it is out

Any info on where this new pump gets maxed out? i see in laloosh(thank you by the way) data log he comes close to 2200 with his set up. I guess my question is if you were to tune the car and command more pressure where does this pump max out?

yes. tons of torque and more power to redline. do it, you won't regret it.

Dyno time scheduled tomorrow at 1:30 PM:)

Derek88's MS3 first. (PG race pipe/ MSCai). Then mine..... hopefully with lots of charts and pics. Thats gonna be Dereks job:) Hes the computer guru.

BTW... my car rips. My other mods felt like "upgrades". This feels like a new car. Low and high RPM.... ALL gears. Were gonna try to turn up the boost a little as well.... but I dont have a damn bcd, so it wont be much.

Im excited guys... I think Im gonna make a ton of power.
