Perfect Power PRS8 Standalone

Theres no actual adapter plug out there for the haltech. It's all still a big wiring loom. Nobody has made a "fields harness" like they make for the Mitsus and WRX's.

Well, I tried to get it working with DOS last night, with no luck. When I connected it up, and fired up the DOS software, I would get a comm error. I then proceded to do the LF FIRST command, and the values would show up in the software. After that, I had no control of my software. I just about believe I have a fubar unit. :'(

Patrick, give me a call about the unit. 732-222-3679

Ok, I just had an interesting break-thru! I was able to successfully load the DOS software up using a Desktop computer at here work. I used a 12 volt power supply (4-6 AMP) that I just bought from Fry's to power the unit. I accually see values changing. Now that I have a file loaded successfully, I will attempt the Window software connect. Fingers crossed folks! (yippy)

Ok, I was successful in getting the PRS8 communicating with the Windows software. :D Looking at the menu, it looks like I have hardware version 36.

This is what the running conditions said:

Type: 8
Version: 36
Inj. Util.: 0

I wonder if this version will work with my ignition system?

That is great news Patrick. Now dump the DOS program, it sucks. The windows program works much better. Your ME Windows will work fine for you. We have been working on a Mazda/PRS piggyback for a while now.

I will send you all of the info you need to get it going over the weekend. Wait untill you start tuning the unit. It does more then most aftermarket system out there. The cost is also well under what most systems are.

Thanks again

Good Job...Now go kcik the crap out of your laptop for being such a pain!

I was accually successful in getting my PRS8 to connect with my laptop about 30 minutes ago. The DOS program still gave me the comm error. I must have an old version of the DOS PRS program. I will fix that! The only thing holding me back now is the 24-way harness. I don't have it. :( I have the 18-way harness. I need to go to sleep now.

Alright, I am in business! I just ordered the 24-wire connecting harness from Perfect Power USA. $58. I understand the price, and if you go back and read this thread at the part where I was sourcing parts to make my own harness, you'd understand as well.

Thanks for the help Nick! This is indeed GREAT NEWS!! :D

Can't wait to see wait to start tuning this thing. :D I think I will get the boost control solenoid, and the Lamda sensor for this PRS8. It does self-tuning like the AEM. I wonder if it can take the output from my TechEdge Wideband instead?

Both the PRS8 and the MPI Tuner are calibrated from Perfect Power with the Bosch LM1 O2 sensor. What type of sensor does the TechEdge unit use? The cost of the sensor is around $200.00-$250.00. I have tuned with this sensor and have compared on the dyno with a Wideband sensor. They are spot on. The boost control soleniod we have in stock all of the time.

Like I said before wait until you start tuning this system. You will find that it does just about anything. Plus we sell them for about $500.00 less then the AEM.

Thanks again

They are both Wide band sensors. The Dyno and the LM1 better be reading the same or else you have a placement issue.
The PP units are not comparible with the AEM. You get what you pay for.

Yes you do get what you pay for. Some people think with the AEM you pay to much for the same control you have with the Perfect Power at $500.00 less.

Nick K how much did you pay for your Perfect Power unit?

Thanks again
