Pablo's MSP maintenance thread

The vinyl has been applied... hahaha

Evan kept saying how stupid it is, I think its hilarious.

Also, Evan was right, there is an exhaust leak. The manifold is missing two bolts on the left side... gona replace those before Sunday.

I didn't say it was "stupid". I think it's also hilarious. The stickers you wanted on both sides of your truck I thought were a little much...

Good weekend.

Took her to another autox on Sunday and got 7 runs in, gotta say she's not autox friendly btu still interesting to try (and I got my times for the Mazdaspeed program).

Had a great time @ Mid Ohio today, the car runs amazing. Had to suck up some rain in the morning, drifted the keyhole, lost it a couple of times but got it back and made an M3 spin out (wouldn't let me pass so I was riding his ass). No video from the rain since my camera isn't water proof, but got some from the afternoon. Will upload after I edit.

I rode in the car today and it is a wicked fun car for sure, I would like to drive it sometime.

We can arrange that, I'll be back in August.

On a side note, since Bill's best time @ Mid Ohio is 1:38.997 on the pro course, I thought I'd be happy if I broke 2:00. Just watched the videos when I had the slicks, my best time was 1:50.xxx (+/- 1 margin of error from watching the video) on the club course with a passenger. Needles to say I'm quite pleased. I know what areas of the track I have to work on, and I'll be comparing my videos with his to find spots where I can improve.

Video editing will have to wait a day or two.

Hey! If you're giving away drives of your car I'd love to get in on that as well. :D

Your passenger seat is the most uncomfortable seat ever though btw. My favorite part of riding with you though is when people see you in their mirror their hand shoots out of the window because OMG race car haha.

Ah it wasn't bad I'm just being a diva. There is seriously no padding on any part of that seat though haha.

Most uncomfortable? You should have tried to wedge yourself into Chris' RX7. There are 12 year olds that won't fit in there, I kind of made it work. Haha.

So true. My friend Adam was like I won't fit, but I told him the seat wasn't paded and I was floating side to side. lol

lol

Actually in hind sight it was probably not too safe for me. I had to slide my ass forward to allow for head room and that made my knees about an inch from the dash and the lap belt (factory 3-point belt) was near the bottom of my rib cage. By the time I got situated and started looking for the belts I had put in too much effort to decline the ride and get out. No offence to Chris but I really shouldn't have been in there like that.

As far as Pablos seat goes, I didn't think it was terrible. The water running in and dripping onto the seat sucked.

I know I posted this on FB but you can see it more clearly here.

Sanja about to go for a ride with Peaches. No big deal right?

Until you see his demon eyes! hahaha

Here are a few spinouts

And the fastest lap. Like Will said, I can use more track in some areas and I need to work on the hard braking. I believe there is some air in the lines, so I'll have to look into that.

Great job!

Here are the three biggest areas I noticed that will help you get faster for next time:

1. Stay on the gas longer leading up to turn 1 and carry enough speed to force the car to the outside curbing on exit. Turn in location in turn 1 is good.
2. At the end of the back straight, the turn in is much too early, turning in later and quicker will allow you to get right on the gas after turn in and allow you to brake later on the straight.
3. At the exit of Thunder Valley turn in later there as well, it will point you further down the short straight to the carousel on the exit of the corner which will allow you to carry more speed through there. Then let the car drift a little further outside before turning in for the carousel to have a larger radius (different than a race line because you don't need to block a pass on the inside).

Also, which springs, swaybar settings and alignment settings do you have on the car right now? It seemed like a lot more understeer than I've ever had (except when I broke a rear endlink) and I wonder if you might need more spring, bar or a little more toe out in the rear to help it come around.

Thanks Bill, I'll keep that in mind next time I go out. I didn't touch the springs of the sway bars. As for the alignment, this is what the dealer gave me, said that was the best he could do:

Looks like it is the rear toe. Once you are comfortable with it you can slowly add in some toe out. A little in the front will help turn in feel if you think it isn't crisp enough.
