P300 and P0340 while cruising?

So I went out to my car during lunch today, let the car partially warm up for just a minute (water temp probably around 130*), gave it a light rev, and it broke up at 4K in neutral.

I decided to pull the O2 simulator that I had installed a while back, just for grins (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79098&highlight=simulator+install)

Fired the car back up, and let it run for another minute or so. At this point, the water temp was probably around 145*. I easily revved past 4K, although I did get some stumble around 7K, which may just be the limit of my plugs or something in these temps (it's probably in the 30's today).

Could taking that out be the fix? We'll just have to wait and see.

Rear O2 has no effect on control systems...

Front O2 affects Fuel Injection control and Purge control...

HOWEVER, I do believe the O2's are on the same shielding wiring as the CKP and CMP. I'd have to double check though and I have to run right now.

Later,

Steve

Look at the thread i linked above. The unit I installed took a signal from the CKP.

I was under this same impression, but lately I've been hearing different...

Well Mazda's specifications say specifically that it doesn't input to any fuel or ignition control.

Did you try reseting the MPI?

Make a new map, whole new map. You know...sometimes the mpi gets screwed. I know you said you tried stock ecu....but, I dont know its just a guess.

Any luck finding a cam sensor?

Well, If I pulled the MPI, that's better than resetting it, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I posted the other day (Tues?) that I borrowed a cam sensor. Didn't help one bit.

Ever since I pulled the secondary O2 simulator yesterday, it's been kosher...

Glad it is working now! :) Want prompted you to decide to pull that simulator?
Just tried to eliminate as many variables as I could.

so basicly your sensor was grounding out?
I wouldn't say that per say...My guess is that it was affecting the crank signal in a negative way.
