gotta go to school man. down here in FL If I am not wrong, they suspend it until you complete a period of 30 School days

b/c i had to live w/my dad and he was in the hospital for 5 days so i had to go stay w/my mom.B/c i never turned in a excuse note they reported it to the state.I even called the school to tell them.So now the car is just gonna sit.Ive only put 438 summer miles on too.4/14/07 is when i can drive it again

It's not the job of the police. It's a way to motivate kids to stay in school. You can also lose your liscence if you get in trouble for drub/alcohol possession/abuse and/or weapons/violence charges.

That's retarded, if that was a law here in WI just about everyone in my school would have lost their license!! NOT JOKING!! That sucks man!

Well, the fact that that sucks has been very well covered, but may I just tell you how envious I am of you. Not because of the loss of your license, but the fact that you have a brand new Miata to drive and are still in high school. Phew, kinda blows my $800 '77 Monte Carlo out of the water. :)

If you would've shown up for 30 minutes on any day in the middle... you'd still have your license because they'll only revoke your license for being out for 10 consecutive days.

I say, fight it. You have a legitimate reason.
Call the principal and whoever's in charge of your discipline office and have your mom speak to them.
You called the school, the attendence office should've noted that.

well i have hospital records and stuff.I talked to the front office and they said they couldnt do anything about it which is a lie:bs:

wow, how stupid. I would be more motivated to leave the state then go to class after that bulls***.

Go straight to the principal. (s)He should be able to call the right person.

yeah I mean what more do they need than a phone call.I cant help that my dad went in the hospital .So now i have to apply for a "hardship license"as well as get my parents to hassle w/the school.I hate seeing that wonderful car just sit there.OMG ive only had my license for 4 months.I wasnt even told i needed to bring in an excuse note even though i called them. Some policy huh

i love how ******* schools now adays dont allow excuses and s***.... there have been several problems with this in the past in different states that i can remember in which the schools always loose. Just get an attorney note and send it to your school board director. They will make something happen.

I think the impetus driving the whole license suspension is a good thing, but not all cases fit tidily in the box of rules. For most students who lost their licenses, it had to do with continued chronic truancy issues and serious discipline/violence problems. If you can provide documentation (hospital records, letter from your father's physician), I bet they can reinstate your license.

From the AJC:

Students can temporarily lose their driving privileges if they drop out of school, rack up more than 10 days of unexcused absences or are suspended for serious violations including threatening or striking a teacher or school employee; possessing drugs, alcohol or weapons; committing a sexual offense; or seriously injuring another student.
