Oil loss prevention

Sorry to tell you but if there is oil coming out of your exhaust then you are burning oil. Your Cat alone burns so hot it will ignite the oil in the pipe.

well i dunno wtf then lol, liquid spits out my exhaust and it's black and stains. maybe just unburnt fuel/oil mixed with enough water vapor. who knows

The fluid you are talking about is Water mixed with all the carbon deposits in your exhaust, from running pig rich. H20 is a bi-product of combustion there is no way around it. I was going to tell you if there was oil coming out of you pipe then you have some sever engine problems.

i'm not really that rich, mid high 11's under boost. other than that it's around 14's. unless my WBO2 is lying to me. i've never seen a drieway get stained from just carbon deposits. and on a cold start the cat wouldnt be hot enough to burn the oil. i havnt done a compression test in a while but i don't think its the rings, it's happened day one from my boosting the car.

your right that is not very rich, i have seen cars leave spots on a drive way like that. But if your spots are becoming puddles then you might look into a set of valve seals or something of that matter. I have never seen enough oil come out of a exhaust system to leave a puddle, and i have been a mechanic for years.

it's not really a puddle, it's just a lot of mist/droplets thats accumulated over a few months. i only really noticed it on cold starts so i was just assuming im blowing oil past the seal

Read Doc B racing's article on the FS-DE oiling issue. I can confirm oil starvation killed my rod bearing on my original engine.

in a kind of related note, i found out yesterday that i had oil in my intercooler piping. both the cold and hot side :-O after 8 hours of work and 4 cans of break cleaner i got it all out. hopefully it doesn't happen again.

thanks i just ordered the PVC valve and will check the oil line in the next couple of days. taking a road trip to Georgia so wont be using the protege.

I heard that the Milenia one had problems after a little while even though it is made for FS engines.. but either way anyone know the size or part number for these, was looking at them at autozone the other day.. look pretty similar

JE2613890 is the Mazda part number for the Millenia-S PCV

Don't get anything but OEM for this. I actually got the purolator one from like murrays, autozone, one of those... and it was still doing the same s*** when PG popped the new OEM one in all was good. plus they fixed a a kink in the lower oil return line as well. PG's price is good just order it for the piece of mind. It's only a few bucks more

the PVCs? .. purolater sounds like the oil filter I got, those aren't bad right? but since PG has the PVCs that's convenient

Purolator is a brand that makes all types of automotive filtration. I think they carry a just about any filter found on a car

well changed my oil today, found out that I was missing almost a full quart, even though it hadn't been changed in a year, but the miles were right on (because slug420 had it sitting for about a year or so when selling it).. I guess I should get the Milenia PVC to help with that right?..I will be installing the oil catch can anyways when I am done with school in a couple weeks, and I am not driving the car till then either, so would it still be needed?..

but btw, what exactly is oil blow by.. is that when oil "spits" out the PVC or something and into the intake mani? and how does the new Milenia PVC fix that?. heard a lot about it, just never sure what it actually was
