Oil Change

So I went into my Mazda dealership for an oil/filter change. After leaving I noticed the nice reminder sticker. Cool, that is till I looked at the milage on the sticker and compared it to the OD. Seems they want me to come back in 3K. WTF, are the techs aware that the oil does not need to be serviced that often? (shrug)

Heh... just a way to drum up more business. I even took one of my older cars to a local place to have it changed, and specifically asked for synthetic for a 5,000 mile oil change, and the tech goob still wrote the mileage to become due in 3,000 miles.

Lucky you don't own a honda. My wife's 07 Odyssey calculates when it needs an oil change based on time, miles, and your driving style and starts nagging you when you have 15% "oil life" left. Even better, it throws a code around every other oil change that it needs a "minor service", and the dealer wants $149 (including oil change) to rotate the tires and inspect the car. My Ford dealer does that same inspection every time as part of their $39 oil change, and $15 to rotate the tires.

My Mazda is too new, I haven't had any experience with the Mazda dealer.
