First one I've done myself (first change was done by the dealership) for this car. A little concerned though - the oil seemed waaaay too gunked up for the time period its supposed to have been in there (about 2500mi/7wks - I would have left it to 3000 but I'm forever paranoid of any work I haven't observed being done). Wondering if the dealer either forgot to change it (it was in to get the rear bushings taken care of also) or put the wrong grade of oil in. Is it possible its just the dino oil degrading that fast?
(uhm)
Also a little worried at the noticable amount of metal flakes in the old oil. The car *sounds* fine, but should I be concerned? I'm going to keep an oil sample and the filter just in case...
She is running 100% better with the fresh Mobil 1, so at least that's good. Q to folks who have been using Synthetic though; do you notice a change in how the turbo sounds? I can hear it much more when it spools now.
