Official: ATx -> MTx conversion

Yep that'd be the one.. I guess it is on the cltuch assembly... :) LOL.. doh! My bad...

it connects to a two wire connector... basically that cuts the power to the start motor itself... how I don't fully know... but I"m guessing there is a relay under the dash that it triggers to allow the signal from the start position of the ignition switch to make it out to the starter motor itself.

man.. i hope those 2 connectors hook up to the ECU by themselves... if i gotta buy the whole dash harness.. i'm gonna FREAK

Actually the solenoid wire feeds right through one of those connectors. It is a 10 guage or thicker wire.

The wires into that switch I think were only like 16 gauge... They were pretty pathetic, that was why i couldn't figure out where they actually went since they didn't go back to the ECU at all, and they were too small to carry and real current....

They don't go back to the ECU... if I remember it tonight when I'm working on the car I'll try to trace them out for you... but I do believe it is part of the dash harness or something similar! But there should easily be a way around all that...

They were thick on mine. Soulution: Wire up a relay using that switch that interrupts the starter solenoid wire. Circuit Recreated.

I'll recheck mine... but yep.. the relay will do the trick.. so one way or another you'll be all good Lil' Freak

wtf are you guys talking about?
lol

ok.. can anybody take pics of the pedals and all the wiring from the clutch?
i'm afraid that i might have to buy a new dash harness.. but on the dealerships parts chart. the dash harness is the same for the ATx/MTx, which leads me to believe that the cables that I'm missing are part of the Engine harness or hook up to an empty socket that i found under the driver's side dash

look in the harness, the plug for it might be taped up...

wont u need the engine wireing harness from the manual too??

I have pictures of it now... I was looking at the wrong one... there are two switches on the clutch assembly... I see the one with the large wires like focus was talking about... and I have no idea what the other one is! but anyway.. i'll post a couple of pictures shortly.

Later.

Steve

EDIT: Pictures turned out like crap... so not worth posting... but basically there is a pair of large wires that connects to the larger white switch at the base of the clutch assembly... where it comes from I don't know.. but I'd guess it is part of the engine harness...

hey lil_freak, roni is parting out her wrecked mp3. you might want to pm her about any parts you might need. I dont think anyone bought anything from the tranny

ok.. i went and changed my oil tonight, and had 2 MTx cars next to me, and I checked them out.
I have the plugs that plug into the clutch pedal.

I don't really know how to explain it, but there's a little 4" of wires that go from the Clutch Cut switch to the harness clip

as you can see in the attached images.. i have #1 that connects to the the (2) clip in the below diagram... but there's a cable that goes from the (11) clip to the #2 clip of the harness.. I've identified this as "?" in the second image.

Do you guys get what i'm saying?

don't need any more tranny parts..
I almost bought her clutch/flywheel.. but i got some for 'free' with my tranny

Turfburn, they found the steel plate you were talking about, too.. we had to inspect a car in the shop to see it, but we found it, and they had to search their parts listing computer for like 5-6 minutes to find the part.. it's with the Crank details or something, I think.. i dunno.
Either way. it should be there tomorrow.

sorry Focus.. you lost me with all that.. wiring isn't my deal, I'm gonna ask Brian to help with all the wiring harness junk.

on that 2 to ? mark one , is that the dash harness or engine harness.. if i am not mistaken u have to put the manual tranny engine harness in, because of the auto tranny havning different plugs... i might have skiped over it but i didnt see you listing u need one..

shane.. i think it's in the first post.
either way. .i have one.. Focus sold it to me for a steal.. he's the king

ahh ok, i read it but didnt realize it was there, my bad

still, what harness is the one that u need the plug to plug into "2" connector, the dash or engine harness..

dash harness.. that's the stock ATx harness.
when i was at the dealership.. they have ATx parts and MTx parts and universal.. the dash harness is universal.. so i was 99% sure that i wouldn't have to replace it.

weird, i curious now, tommorow on all data i am gonna look it up and get the wireing skematics.. to see exactly what is up with those connections.. can u think of any other skematics u would need, i can easily print them out at work and scan them at home for you..

the whole engine harness. it goes to the back of the car, actually.. can you print off the ATx engine harness and the MTx engine harness.. I want to know if portion of the engine harness that goes to the back of the car is different on the MTx ECU, cuz mine's cut at the Driver's seat.. but there's nothing in the back of the car that should be different.. so i can just cut my ATx harness and solder the wires in place onto the MTx ECU.

do you understand what i'm sayin'?

otherwise.. that's the only electrical change i need to do... and the speedometer cable.. id on't have one of those, but i don't care
i like the ghetto that's done on purpose :P

part of the engine harness has to go into ur car, for ecu purposes.. but i guess u alreayd know that.. for the most part, i am pretty sure that the engine harness goes striaght to the ecu,
