Any particular reason you decided to go with the stock clutch? I would think the best option (money allowed) would be to buy a performance clutch that can handle the power you are getting ready to throw at it.

i'm going to buy one.. but i dunno how the $$ will be.... and i haven't driven stick in about 6 years.. so i gotta relearn how to do that.. so i'm gonna beat the living crap outta the stock one.. buy a Spec Stage 1 and MSP flywheel from a local guy and install those another weekend.
gives me something to do on weekends :)

damn, looks like you god a lot of work ahead of you.

Let me know what your doin with your old ATx i may use pick it up off you.

i was going to ask Brian to run over it with a tank... :P

I was actually going to ask Lentech if they wanted to buy it from me (spin)

did you get the pedal assembly, shifter and linkage, clutch fluid cyclinder? where are those coming from?

so went down to NY today.. drove a total of 1300km (810miles) today for 16hours.
picked up the following:
tranny linkage/shifter/boot:

MSP pedals (all 3):

annnnd.... while i was there.. found a deal i couldn't pass up for one of these (includes the whole column, too):

btw - i know it's the 'clutch pipe'... but there's gotta be another name for it?
I'm gonna go to Mazda on Monday afternoon and see how much the part is, new.

I have an extra clutch line if you want it Since I have an extra tranny lying around I also have the solid tube pre-bent of course. PM me for details. It's just sitting in my room right now

any updates on this i want to know...need to know more since my dream would be a conversion too and trading it in would be really hard since its my first car.

protege shop manual :)

unfortunately, melicha8, I'm doing the swap next friday, so I'm gonna need all my parts in my hands by thursday... shipping form CA to canada in 4 days... probably not possible without costing a BUTTLOAD

Have you kept a running total of $$ spent?

Great Job so far!

edit: you're going to do the kartboy shifter bushings while you're at it, right? I didn't see them around anywhere on your list..

if it's not NECESSARY, i'm not doing it now.
i'm getting it to work, first.. any 'fine tuning' will be done later.

I have no qualms on taking the tranny apart once it's in and working. I'll have to upgrade to SS Clutch line, Spec Stage 1 Clutch and MSP flywheel in 1-2 months anyways... as well as B&M short shifter and custom leather boots.

edit.. i'm somewhat keeping tabs on the costs. In parts, i'm up to US$860.
That's not including the calipers i bought for my brake upgrade nor the MSP steering wheel.
I've spent like $200 on gas, too.. and probably another on food 'n s*** when driving... i'm up to 1875km (~1200miles) this weekend for my parts

Why do I get the feeling that this is somehow going to be done in my driveway... and that I'm going to be under the car alot...

d00d.. you like being bottom (boom02)
don't worry, man.. i'm not just gonna monitor everything... I want to make sure I understand EVERYTHING as it's being done.. as i'm gonna write a FULL how-to for the work we'll be doing.

btw - do you still have the engine crane?

btw - i don't know what a pilot bearing looks like.
Is it the little bearing on the inside of the flywheel?
