Official: ATx -> MTx conversion

slick..
as well. if you HAVE it.. can you find me the part number for the wire that goes from the (11) clip in my diagram to the (2) clip in my picture?
I wanna see if my dealership can get it for me by Friday morning... or i might have to go junkyard hunting and rip one off a wreck

part of the engine harness has to go into ur car, for ecu purposes.. but i guess u alreayd know that.. for the most part, i am pretty sure that the engine harness goes striaght to the ecu,

you're correct.. part of it splits to the ECU.. but there's another portion that goes all the way to the back for the fuel pump and/or some other s***. it's like 11-13 wires that just lead to the back of the car

do u have abs? could be abs wires and fuel pump, float meter wires.. i ll find out tmorow i am gonna get the entire cars digram for the harness.. mtx and atx... u know this would have been alot easier to find a mtx car that was totaled and rob it of the mtx.. lol

haha. i know. but it would have been WAY more expensive.. I'm at like $1000 in parts... and the cheapest wreck i can find is like $3500
and the work's being done 150km from my place, so shipping the car would be HARD... and I wanted to do it in a method that others can do it. It's nice to do the swap and document it all... but it's also important to me to ensure that i can back up anything i put in my how-to :P

yeah i get what u mean.. i would love to get a 5 speed to my 1.6l
then i can boost later and not owrry about engine or tranny giving out..

i know , i cant do any thing major to the engine becuase of the tranny thats what i am gettin at..

I would guess that section of the harness that you need is an individual piece... as you in theory have both ends it goes to, just not the whatever inch section to connect them together.

you are correct. It's just a puny little section of wires.. If I can't find the part # by 2pm, I'm leaving work at 3pm and going to a junkyard to pay WAY too much $$ for the part. (they won't let me take it out of the rebuilder car unless if I pay way too much)
I have the dealership working on it now... if anybody else can find me the part number.. I will forever be indebted to you :)

i got 7 diagram pictures of the cars entire drivetrain harness atx and mtx ill have them scanned at lunch

cool.

I called Dave Woods Mazda (best dealership around) and they went and looked at 3 cars for me and it seems as though my ? plug IS the part the connects directly to the pedal ( connector 11 )... I'll have to look again tonight - if i'm right and it's something different, then I'll have to visit a junkyard tomorrow afternoon.

went to scan them the drivers werent installed they are installing now but i wont be able to scan and post them to around 6ish tonight.. its 7 pages for the mtx and atx cars wireing harness..

You can see it in this picture... if you look, resting against the block is a piece of silver metal... that's the plate.

It's about 1/16 of an inch thick.

ok.. is this 100% NECESSARY?
The part is on back order. Can I run 1 month with some form of sealant? I'm putting in a new clutch/flywheel in a month or so, so I can put on the proper plate then, but I'm wondering if a temp fix would do?

It's stupid to be held back by something so menial

I honestly can't say on that... you'd have to ask the dealer about it... there are plenty of places in the states that have them or can get them in short order.. so I wonder why the heck the back order... don't know if you have other options... You may already have one on your current motor... whether it matches up or not I don't know... but it may be necessary for spacing reasons... it may be that the tranny shaft is long enough that it doesn't bolt all the way up without that plate... but again I don't know/I'm not sure.. it's not there for sealing because the bell housing is open to the atmosphere anyway...

hmm. ok.. so i'm sure we can figure something out.
the ATx MIGHT have it.. i don't know... the dealership didn't know either.. I'm gonna call Dave Woods again tomorrow, and see if they have it.
Canadian 'back order' means we gotta go to the States to get it... so it's not THAT big a deal.. he said it could be in tomorrow and he'd call me right away if it came in... but in the meantime, I'm gonna be looking for scrapyards 'n s*** that have Proteges... anything to do this as right as possible.

k i am about to go scann those documents.. give me 15 min to get them on disk and to my pc,

that metal plate serves 2 purposes if it is the kindi am thinkin of, it serves as a shim to shim th engine and tranny so everthing lines up and a dust shield.. its a must have..

i really hate scanners... but i finnally got it to work

if it's just a dust shield and shim... sealant between the 2 will be a shim, and sealant on the outside will be a shield... i'm not joking when i'm saying i'm not letting some dipshit $30 part ruin my $1000 project.
(deadhorse
I'm gonna find a way around this... it sucks that I didn't hear about the part until now... but i mean.. for all i know, the ATx might have the plate, and it might be the same, or easily modified to do the same job.
