Not useful anymore

Well, I have been sitting here, pondering why I continue to visit this forum. It has been made very apparent to me, that it is just not useful anymore.

I found this forum, a few days before I bought my MSP, and fell in love with the info, and the help people gave. It seems, since then, that the quality of the info, the caliber of people, and the vehemance against MSP owners grows more and more.

Before ANYONE takes personal offence, or thinks I am trying to start a flame, I am NOT I am stating my opinion, and thoughts.

Since first finding this forum, there were MANY MANY people who posted on a regular basis, and contributed to the growth of knowledge for everyone. This has diminished extensivly, over the past 2-3 months. I find some of the main causes to be the following:

1. Noobs-I am not knocking new people to the thread, I am going to go into detail of posts, and what SHOULD be done to control multi-posts, and stupid questions.
a. First, a new user guide SHOULD become a manditory requirement to read, before you are allowed to post. This would eliminate, the multi-question posts, and the subsiquent "use the search". This deters new users from coming back, and pisses off to no end, myself, and others, when multi-asked questions arise.
b. Second, a WARRANTY ISSUES button needs to be added, that will pop up a page with any, and all info needed to answer Warranty questions. (see my stickied post in the p5 section, a perfect example of what should be in the button)
c. Third, EVERYONE needs to remember, this is NOT the only site on the internet to learn about your car, or modding it. This is mainly for the people new to the import scene, or especially turbocharged cars. (yeah, Im talkin bout the MSP owners :D ) Please utilize the NET search in your browser also.

2. s*** talking-totally uncalled for. It was mentioned in a thread, that people are aware of this forum, but do not post, because of the inter protege fighting (p5 guys and MSP guys)
a. P5 owners, understand that many MSP owners are younger, and can have a slight attitude, bear with it. REmember, it takes a BIGGER man to turn the other cheek, then to strike back. Same goes for the MSP owners, slow your roll, and remember, you still jsut drive a frikin Protege.
b. MSP owners, lose the tude, and learn about your car. Dont be cocky, jsut becuase your car is boosted. I know MANY MANY MANY, NA cars that will wipe thier asses with your car.
c. Trolls, ignore them, please. :D

These are just a few of the reasons why many people have left our community, and probably will not come back. I am personally debating leaving this forum, and sticking to the promazda forum only. I feel I have gained all I can from this forum, and really dont feel like contributing more, for the simple reasons above.

AGAIN, THIS IS NOT DIRECTED TOWARDS ANYONE IN PARTICULAR, BUT TO THE FORUM COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE[B/]

Thanks for reading, and thanks for not posting a frikin flame reply. This was presented as constructive criticism I would expect the same respect back. :D

Have a nice day.
Craig

Weird.. I had a very similar talk with two new guys that came out to the car meet for the first time last night. They had been reading this board but never wanted to post on it because they were worried about being flamed. Oh well..

its good when someone takes something youve wanted to say, and instead of having to figure out how to put my thoughts into words, i click a button and see my thoughts displayed nicely be someone else

good show

In a way I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm pretty new here compared to most that have been here a ALOT longer. I used to be on some other sites and read this one as a "guest" often, just joined recently though. It's hard to come on here and state your position or anything else for that matter without someone jumping on every single word thats said. Alot of our members or the newbies dont come on here for that reason as well, but they still jump on every now and then for the info or how to's. I've got all the respect and admiration for this forum of course due to the support the admin's have given the club and our small part of the web away from our own website. Theres still great info on here and plenty of good people, hang in there boost, we hear ya. Screw the Trolls and 'haters'....its just a forum, it aint like you gotta work with some of them or introduce em to your sister. lol :D

i agree with boost craig.

as for the "it's only a protege" comment. i answer back with the greatest paradox of all time.... the B20 vtec powered ek civic hatch...

69 views, and 7 posts, 2 of them my own. This is funny. Now if this was in the flamewars section, with a bunch of "bitching" there would be at least 50-100 replies. :D

well points do need to be addressed, although it did get out of hand, everyone has to agree that A LARGE portion of the msp'ers never leave or post outside their own section. my .02

I do agree with you Vulcanon. Even if the issue, or point, or tpoic is MSP related, it needs to go into the apropriate topic.

EX:My sub died, anyone recomend a new one ?- This should go into the Audio section. Whereas, My sub Died, any TSBs on the sub in the MSP ?-This should be in the MSP section, since there are no topics for TSB's in general forum :D

i dont post much anymore compared to before because i get a little sick of answering the same damn questions. notice i have the same response for intakes and exhausts because i have them saved as text files because people cant use the search button. people are just simply too lazy to use the search button. i visit mainly to learn about turbos (not the one that comes stock) and occasionally help out when im bored. i know everyone is sick of my sarcastic posts, but oh well.

hey lara I love you =) (ghost don't kill me lol)

but if your name is lara croft why is cammy your avatar?

MAtt, I am in the same boat sir. :D I just ignore the repetitive questions, and post where I feel it necessitative (sp)

Razor always ends up the heated subject of many a flame wars... its kinda of humorous...lol...and no, Mike will not kill you...maybe MAME you a bit...but like any wild animal, he likes to taunt and play with his prey first.....lol:D :p

Cami is all I could find...no Lara Croft bouncing around like she wants to fight. :( wahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Love the old Megatron avatar by the way...:D That & Gi Joe were my favorite cartoons back in the day. I could name any Joe....Alpine was my favorite. He was Puerto Rican and funny.....had Bazooka as his best friend.

Not much of a newbie, but I still try to help out with noob questions. It can get tiring, but hey it is better to just answer the question and watch the post die away then have a bunch of people blasting the person, never answering the question, and then getting completely off-topic. Some people don't think which section they should put it in, others want an answer immediately so they put in the busiest section, others just feel it is car specific because that is the car that they specifically have.
There are a million and 1 questions that should not be in the MSP section. They aren't necessarily car specific, but the best thing to do is let the thread die. It is easiest. Not all people know how to do searches. Even on the net. I mean Hell, I know a lot of people that hardly know how to use a computer and they are the same age if not younger than me. I can understand an 80 year old, but come on a 24 year old.
This board is like any other place it is going to attract those that know a lot and those that know a little. Just being civil is the main key to it all.
That and the ability to truly not give a s***! :)

I have a very different view point so lets get to it :D

There is plenty of useful stuff here, its just sorting through the common BS thats getting harder. Mods need to get far more active. I can't much blaim a noob for a repost if in the first 10 threads they searched through, they never saw one useful peice of info.

Finding info is extreamly hard do to the 3000 reposts on the same subject. Total cleaning is need. Moving post is not the prefered method to me, unless entirely necessary. Instead the mods in every section should think of the common questions asked and search them. From there go through the posts and use the good info for a sticky thread or even delete all poinless replies in a thread that has good info. No one is going through 89 post to find one peice of info.
Commonly asked questions should be made into a FAQ but instead of trying to summerize or combine all that into one post is pointless. Instead make a FAQ that has the question and then links under where it has been discussed. Again these links need heavy deleting to remove all none usefull info.
MSP mods are the ones that need to get on this the most. That section sees far more post per day then any other and has the most repetition as would be expected. I would also hope the All Flash info thread would be seperated into several, being: What dealers will do it and What changed/lower boost levels. All other random comments need to be removed.

Closing threads needs to be much more common place. As a mod, if someone reasks the same damn thing already covered. Then close the thread and post a link to another that already covered it.

It is sad that many peoploe have moved on but most that left have sold there MP3s that started this site. Most often it has nothing to do with the forum itself. Some people have been turned off but I would argu its to the entire emerging SCC scene loaded with such repeditive bulls*** its just cliche at this point.

Direct insult and asshole statements have no need to be posted and if are should be outright deleted. If someone post "How do you like my cars new paint", then any reply like "wow now your a real assclown" should be deleted. Once someone thats just on an ego trip realizes his stupidy will simply be removed, he has little need to stay.

Now for the problem areas:
1. Noobs
a. What is it the makes sure someone reads the user guide. I know I wouldn't. What exactly would go in it other then the common sense stuff someone shoudl already know?
b. Warrenty is no different then the other 300 questions repeated daily, these are best solved by a weel put togtether FAQ that directs you to totaly cleaned out links that are only info filled. I see this as a mod short comming not a users.
c. This should be a good area for all info to come together about the cars. No reason it can't be the hub of sorts.

2. P5 vs MSP.
This is hardly the situation. The model car is hardly a deciding factor. Its all about maturity. Most of us hate the damn Fast and Furious attitude of street racing and the general additude of always looking for a fight or race.

To expand here I think there is a serious problem with people thinking there is a from of hierarchy and they have to be on top, or just general favoritism without examining the situation. As far as I am concerned everyone is the same. This also brings ups some of the all but political alliances between groups. Or the fueding between them.

A big factor to lack of informations I believe is that it is far to common place that the ones with the most knowledge are vendors now and not only have little time to contibute but often don't say what they want to becuase they need to stay "professional". Another side is some are affraid to voice there concern, opposition and outright disatsifaction fearing a vendor will get angry and treat them worse.I have talked to several people with this very issue.

Being part of a internet forum and community is not only about learning but teaching. If someone has no interest in teaching then often they will leave when they think the information stops coming in. I would rather continue to lend what information I have to anyone seeing it. Just becuase I typed it once doesn't mean it is a dead subject. Everyone has different levels of knowledge and technical understanding, as a senior member I feel its our job to help everyone find information and the answers there looking for. That is the first and most important prioty. Another is honesty regardless of situation. Be it about a car, vendor or single product. No one should be affraid to post somehting they feel is honest and thoughout. s*** talking needs to be removed immedaitly.

In closing:
1st MP3 for President 2004 :D

Here is where the mods need to earn there keep.
Some would be a bit hairy to know where to post as a newby.
If for example the person wants to know how to find the problem themselves. Then logicly it could be in either. However I hear the audio mod is very knowledgable about the MSp system and in troublshooting audio problems :D
However, an advatage is he is also a terrible post ***** so you could put it in the Puerto Rico section and he'll still find it

Jokes aside, I do think it agains comes down to the mods simply being lazy and not doing what needs to be done to maintain order. Myself included.

We arent perfect.. My first post was asking how to find my production number.. No one flamed me.. and it probably only took half a second to reply to me.

Things probably need to be moved and some things probably need to be left alone.

FAQs need to be added and some might say that no one will need them anyway.

If we put a drawn out process for newbies to go to when they find our site.. they will imediatly leave.

Good idea on the warranty button..

we are a balanced site..
