Not useful anymore

the big thing that bothers me is that if i post something other forum members don't like, it's okay to say so "hey i'm not into that but if you like it go for it!" but to call other protege owners all the names in the book and make it a personal attack it not cool! when i first came on i just read and observed, got a feel for how the board worked before i started posting. the noobs get killed most times for what they think are very important questions....we're on the same team!!! my two cents worth! by the way, i think the site is very useful to me.

Multi-posts occur on any and every board. I used to frequent the www.sounddomain.com forums but got tired of answering "which subwoofer is better", "why do my lights flicker", and "what does a capacitor do" quiestions. I started to focus on just the "Sound" section but even that got repetitive. Even mailing lists get the repeat questions. Its going to happen, there is nothing you can do about it. . .

First, I don't think it is the noob's job to read a bunch of crap and search for every detail before they post. I think a simple "wait 24 hours before you can post" rule would be more effective. Most people join to ask one question, this would reduce those types of posts and force them to use other means to find their question if they are in a rush.

Perhaps a "Welcome Newbie" page should be constructed that follows registration. It can have links to the FAQ pages as well as quick links to the most popular forum search strings such as "MSP Clunk" or "Warantee".

Basically, If this site had more than just a forum, it would better serve the community.

Interesting points and entirely understandable on a site that sees alot of traffic and posting. What we think as old information isn't to new users and is entirely expected. Just think you probably ask those same questions when you came on. Now that we probably have some fortified answers for them we can construct a solid focal point or FAQ.

Oh and
1St Mp3 for Pres!!!!

I like all of the pics of the sunroofs anf some of the non-performance mods. Where else could I just click and eventually see something I want to see. Other people like other info. In one way or another, ITS ALL GOOD! :D

PS: My post flash car stumbles like a motherfucker when I floor it at 70!!! It used to only stumble driving around town.

What would help is rating the threads that people think are the most informative. That way, when someone new does a search, the "best" threads on that topic will be at the top of the list. That will at least help prevent the repetitiveness.

One thing to think about guys....without questions, what would we talk about? This forum would slowly die away. I agree that the organization of the questions is a good thing.

1st you definately got it going on in that post!!!
I don't myself understand the hate between a P5 and an MSP. I am just not into it. And it doesn't stop with the cars. That is the worse part!!!
The other part is that some people are getting tired of posting because they don't wanna deal with the b.s. They don't want people to get on their case about every little thing. And when I say every little thing - I MEAN every little thing. It is sad. Not everyone likes the same exact thing. Not everyone thinks in the same way! Not everyone likes this or that product or vendor.
Some people like APC (just an example here guys) and others don't. Some have had great experiences with them and then others haven't. Come to think of it, Magnus Motorsports is one on here that is specific. I have seen for and against threads. I haven't dealt with them, don't even know if I ever will! I do know that some people have had a problem and some haven't. It is nice to know that! It is nice that those people could post what they thought!
A lot of people don't get that luxury (which it shouldn't be a luxury!) on here. They post that they wanted to find out if Altezza's would fit and they get 50 posts telling them altezza's suck. WTF, don't post if you aren't going to answer the question. Instead the thread becomes a war (not necessarily for the altezzas - but for other things).
It is the negative crap that no one wants to deal with anymore and I really can't blame them. Hell some of the post on here make my pessimistic negative attitude seem down right perky!!!
I don't have a solution to any of these problems. Never will. I just try to help out some when they got a question and sometimes I make a comment to those that just troll to back off just a little because I know that a lot of them that are pissed off at the lack of knowledge have a lot more to offer than attitude!

There really is no hate between P5 and MSP. Its much broader then that. Its like and old vs the new battle. In noth experience attidude and board participation.

As for APC's I agree that it has no need to turn into a flame war, yet usualy will. I have on a few accounts ask why replace the factory which look good with a cheaper less attractive knock off.
but that is only when there fitting is not at subject. I have actualy scolded people for ragging on someones appearance mods even though I hated it. Don't even get me started on carbon fiber. Yet I remain silent on it becuase it won't do anything but get people pissed off.

Alot of that again comes down to mods, stupid and attacking posts like that need to just be deleted.

Agreed. But I have seen some mods do that too!
I really think that the mods sometimes should set the example. Yes I know they are human! Yes I know they get pissed. Yes I know they have a right to their opinion! But it comes down to that they volunteered to deal with the crap, not to deal the crap. And this is not a bash the mods thing either. I am just stating something that I have seen. I am not saying that it is their job to set the example, just really that it might change the whole mood of this message board!
I really think that P5 and MSP'ers shouldn't get upset at each other. I hate it!!! I like the P5, almost got one, till I saw the MSP. It fit my personality better than the P5. I don't feel my car is any better than a P5, or a person that buys one. Then again I am 26 and not all worried about my image! Maybe it is youth or maybe it is attitude. Or maybe it is all of it.
Either way I just wish that people wouldn't go mad crazy on the insults night and day!

Again there is no P5 vs MSP.
There are people with any type of car on either side.
UIt just happens that the most vocal have those 2 cars.

I know what you mean with the mods doing it to, it happens.
That goes back to my favoritism. I have pointed that BS out on mods to. I would expect it pointed out on me too.

Well, I never post on this forum for the exact reasons of "getting flamed" or having responses that are unrelated to the question I have asked. This forum has gotten to the point where someone like myself is not going to ask ANY questions because of the repercussions from the said question.

I am a newbie to modifying cars, but in no way am I new to computers or how to use a search boolean, but there is just too much BS posts to read through that make it impossible to find some of the answers that you are looking for. I agree with you 1st MP3 in NH about cleaning up posts. That would be a great idea. Also, one thing I have noticed that I thought was one of the best threads was on the Mazdaspeed section, the aftermarket guide. That thread has the most information about my vehicle.

I joined this forum back in May of this year and thought the information that I found on here was awesome. Now I feel like there is alot of negative floating around that makes me not want to come back to this forum. I am glad that boostisgood brought up this point and feel better that there are people that are trying to make the forum better for everyone.

Maybe, just maybe, I can post some of my questions and not just PM people that I think will give me the answer the first time......

.....hope things get back to the way they used to be.......

When I say P5 vs. MSP, I mean owners. Not the actual cars. I realize that cars aren't alive!!! I hope you know that. What I was getting at is that P5 owners and MSP owner are on each others case about the cars, then they get on each other about attitudes and it just becomes a big ole cut-down fest!
I know the stereotypes and the generalizations between the two groups of owners can get ridiculous. No matter what it is still a Protege and it is still a 20,000 or under car!

Thats what I am saying, its not P5 owners against MSP owners. Its MP3, P5, and MSP owners against MP3, P5, and MSP owners.
THe car is not an indication of sides.

The MSP owners were steroetyped, some rightfully, and it happened to be by a few P5 owners although it was also by a few MSP and MP3 owners. One person had an P5 that was very vocal against the stereotyped MSPs and thus the retaliation was sarcasticly aimed at P5 owners.

Ohhhhhhhh, okay....I see (lightbulb turns on). I was just using that as an example. I have seen a lot of people against a lot of people. I still don't get it. I even got to the point where I was so sick of people bashing on the SRT-4! I still don't like it, but I have nothing against those that own it (as a group - if one is being an asshole well he deserves to be treated like one!). Same with all car owners!!!! If they are assholes....then fine...expect to be treated like one!!!
It is just there is no reason for a bunch of people on here to act like they are car gods! So what I don't know everything about this car....I am LEARNING! Respect....that is what is missing! Straight out respect.

I have a very different view point so lets get to it :D

There is plenty of useful stuff here, its just sorting through the common BS thats getting harder. Mods need to get far more active. I can't much blaim a noob for a repost if in the first 10 threads they searched through, they never saw one useful peice of info.

...
In closing:
1st MP3 for President 2004 :D

-Inserts witty comment on how moderators sometimes have to step on toes-

-Inserts witty comments on p5 vs MSP paralleling the STi vs other Subarus on nasioc.com-

-Inserts vote for 1st MP3 of NH-
